I am taking the drug levetiraceta and wondering if it will hurt to drink a glass of red wine at night as I was before about 4 times a week?
Could the alcohol cause the seizure or have a reaction with the drug? doctor unclear?

Everyone is different with alcohol and epilepsy drugs. I'm on 2 types of epilepsy meds, an anti-depressant, and medication for ADHD, so I rarely drink at all. However, my neuro says if you do "1 alcohol drink, max!"
Basically the alcohol doesn't cancel out your medication, but the medication can increase the effects of alcohol. Most epilepsy meds are depressants, so keep that in mind.

Alcohol is known to cause more severe side effects, when combined with many prescription medications, according to FDA reports, which may include nausea, dizziness, and drowsiness.

Thus, it is advised that you abstain, while taking it, however, if your doctor approves, please be careful and do not indulge more than they approve.

Is there anything I can help with?
