I think it is used for Schizophrenia but not sure - I want to know what it's prescribed for - thx ## I was unable to find Ciprexa in US drug databases. Did you mean to say Zyprexa? It's like a football shaped pill and it's a peachy type color and it says on it LILLY4420 ## Located a match it's Zyprexa (active ingredient olanzapine 20 mg). anti depressant ## Zybrexa--Son is suffering from severe weight gain and other serious side effects resulting from this drug. I also understand a lawsuit is pending against the company that released it. Complete info on status of this medication appreciated ## The correct drug name is Zyprexa and these are very common side effects for this drug. My husband was on it for awhile and I know several other people who had problems and had to stop taking it as well. Yes, the company has been in trouble due to the fact that they hid information on the fact that it CAN CAUSE Diabetes. i am currently on all three of the above mentioned and would like to know if there is any thing to watch out for , why i am on all 3 and what the effect is ## Zyprexa (generic name Olanzapine) is mainly used to treat schizophrenia, however its also used for anorexia or for patients undergoing chemotherapy who may be experiencing nausea and vomiting. It is an anti-psychotic. it should not be used for patients with histories of seizures, diabetes, or who have attempted suicide. i am unfamiliar with the other meds. I started sleep walking on serenace/ cogentin so the doctor put me on Zyprexa/alanzapine is this normal I think serenace/cogentin are dangerous. ## It is a rare, but possible side effect of most antipsychotic medications. There are also very serious side effects that can result from using Zyprexa. The most common ones that cause problems for those taking it is severe weight gain, which often results in Type II Diabetes and extreme withdrawal symptoms when they try to stop taking it. There are many horror stories out there from people who have used both of these medications. My husband had severe problems when he was taking Zyprexa and he had only been on it for a short time and it was a nightmare when he stopped taking it. The only adverse side effect I've experienced with Zyprexa is weight gain. I've gained 40 pounds in a year but I'm so stable on it it hardly matters! I love Zyprexa! ## I will give you an early warning though, if you ever try to stop using this, because you don't need it anymore, or you are switching to something else, you will have great difficulties with addiction to this, I know many people who have had this problem, even if they were only on it for a very short time. My own husband was on it for just a few weeks, he is diabetic so the weight gain was a real problem and he had to stop taking it, and even in that short time span, trying to get off it was just miserable. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU THINK ALMOST EVERYONE IS BI-POLAR IN THE USE.. THOUGHTS ON THAT.... SOME MORE THAN OTHERS, OUR SON IS A CRACK ADDICT AND DOING REAL WELL ON THIS MED.
