Zolpidem And Alprazolam

sir,
i am a regular consumer of alcohol (around 300 ml a day) for the last 20 years and my age is 50. i want to give it up but i cant sleep on days i abstain from it. can i have zolpidem and alprazolam together? or what other drug will you suggest?

If you have been consuming alcohol for that long, some withdrawal effects, such as the insomnia, are to be expected, if you suddenly stop drinking it.

Zolpidem is a hypnotic used for the short-term treatment of insomnia and Alprazolam is a Benzodiazeopine, and because of the possible effects, they should not be used together, unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

They can both cause depression of the central nervous system, which can result in lowered heart rate and blood pressure, as well as respiratory depression, so the two of them together could lower these to very dangerous levels, which could put you in life threatening danger.

I take 5 mg of zolpidem and.025 mg of alprazolam to assist sleep. I am 86. Is this dangerous?

I, too, am a regular wine drinker and I don't sleep on nights I don't have wine. Since Zolpidem is enhanced w/wine I am only taking 5MG just before I get in bed since Zolpidem is enhanced with the alcohol. Worst side effect is frequent horrid nightmares! I took Lorazepam for years; I liked it best in low dosage. My wine is the only thing that makes me RELAX w/o serious side effects. However, I only drink wine; never hard alcohol. Good Luck.

Greetings, I am a South African Doctor. Zolpidem is powerful and should not be mixed with alcohol. You can take it with Alprazolam but this must first be discussed with your doctor! But Alprazolam on it's own can help you sleep.
