Does Zoloft Loses It's Effectiveness?

Updated

I have been taking Zoloft for anxiety for about 32 years now. I don't feel any different. I am wondering if it loses it affect on people after being used for a while. My question is, is there anything better for anxiety issues? I do not suffer from depression! What should I ask my doctor to change me to? Thanks!

Have you ever tried or considered Xanax ?

DONT take xanax ever! It is highly addictive. And if you get hooked the detox process is so painful that I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Your body will adjust to the dosage of any medication if used for a prolonged period of time and it will stop being as effective for you.

There are several Benzodiazepines available, other than just Xanax, there is also Klonopin, which is commonly used to treat nerve and anxiety disorders. It contains the active ingredient Clonazepam.

You can read more about it here:

Have you spoken to your doctor about a dosage adjustment or medication change?

Why have you been taking it for 32 years if it never made you feel any better? You should have told your doctor after about three weeks, you would have known by then if it was helping you or not. Keep me posted on how your doing

Xanax, Atuvan, and the like are very good drugs, yes they are addictive. Just take them only when you really need them, not everyday like an antidrepressant, or antianxiety medication that are not addictive. For me they have been a real lifesaver. I couldn't take, lexepro, zoloft, or many of the others out there, I had very bad side effects. Never tell anyone not to take a certain medication. That they need to talk to their doctor about.

Zoloft came about in the year 1991, you had to have been taking a different drug other than one that wasn;t even invented yet.

I thought the same way after taking it for many years. However l tried coming off it. I did wind up learning a lesson. I felt it was not working but did not realize how l really was before l took it. If l think l feel bad now wow did not realize how l really was. That is something you forgot. You may think it is not working but the two weeks or 4 weeks it takes lis some difference.
