Has anyone been approved for Activas Patient Assistance Program. I've been in the coverage gap(donut hole) since February. One months prescription is over $500 and I will need these enzymes for the rest of my life. If you were approved, How did you qualify. Do you have any insurance? I was denied because I'm on a Medicare Advantage program. I'm on SSDI and this expense is a true hardship. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ## Has anyone had trouble with the cost of their Zenpep prescription. It is also known as Pancrealipase, although there are no generic substitutes. It is mainly prescribed for Cystic Fibrosis and Chronic Pancreatitis. It is manufactured by Activas Pharmaceuticals. I have prescription coverage through a Medicare Advantage Replacement Plan. It is very ex...

I went to pick up my husband's pancrelipase and the pharmacy said it was discontinued by the manufacturer. Is this true? I know it is a generic for pancrease but it's more expensive and he is a pancreatic cancer survivor and has to take these for life. Can you please tell me if this is true? ## From the information I am finding, yes, this product has been discontinued, but no reason has been given for why this was done. The only thing I can suggest is talking to the pharmacist or contacting his doctor for an alternative. I have no idea what they prices are, but there are a few other brands on the market that contain the same ingredient, such as: Cotazym, Creon, Lipram, Ultrase, Zymase and several others. Please post back and let us know if you find something. ## Most of these pr...

Activas Patient Assistance Program does not offer any assistance while in the coverage gap. Creon manufacturer does offer assistance while in coverage gap. Has anyone used a drug discount card successfully when purchasing either Zenpep or Creon? The card instructions indicate that it can help during the coverage gap.

Yes, all non-approved pancrelipase drug products have stopped being manufactured and being sold to wholesalers and pharmacies because of FDA quality control guidelines which went into effect on April 28, 2010. Only 3 approved agents are now being sold: Creon (Abbott), Zenpep (Eurand) and Pancreaze (Ortho-McNeil Pediatrics). Older products will eventually be out of stock at the pharmacies as supplies run out and not being replaced with new product. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for help, or view the 3 approved products websites, which are the drugname.com or companyname.com. Hope this helps. ## This is correct, they have forced many companies to stop selling unapproved products until they are submitted for testing. This has created a shortage of some products. ## You appear very knowledg...

Last week the P/A increased my dosage of Zenpep from 5,000 units a meal to 50,000 units a meal. It has not helped. I will call her tomorrow with the sad results. Does anyone taken a higher dose and, if so, did it solve the problem? ## Hi Joanne, How are you? I haven't taken Zenpep myself, but based on my research Zenpep is available in six different dosage strengths, and each one is dependent upon on what amount your healthcare provider suggests you use (since everyone's case may be different). You can also get a lot of the enzymes found in Zenpep by simply eating a diet rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs. So if you feel like it's not working as well as you think it should, then I would probably think it'd be wise to analyze your diet and see where you can make ...
