How are you feeling? I am very sorry that the Xarelto made you so miserable. Many people have complained about similar side effects. However, there are other medications available to treat your condition, so you should speak to your doctor about trying an alternative. Has anyone else had a bad experience with Xarelto? ## I have been on 15mg Xarelto for 6 years now. I am72 years old. I have in the last year developed anxiety which pushes my blood pressure way up and forces me to take lexomotil which drops the pressure down to normal within an...

can xarelto cause a side effect called planter fasciitis

I have been on Xarelto for just over 3 months. I have pain in my right heel that is extremely painful to walk on. A doctor diagnosed it as plantar fasciitis. Is this another side effect of Xarelto? ## It is not listed as a known side effect by the FDA. The typical side effects of Xarelto are listed as possibly including nausea, easy bruising, increased risk of bleeding, headache, and joint/muscle aches. As of now, according to current research, medications haven't been known to cause Plantar Fasciitis, however, that doesn't completely rule them out, either, since we learn new things every day. Are you on any other medications?

xarelto and white willow bark

I was recently diagnosed A-fib, and I use Thrive supplements, which one of the igredients is white willow bark. is this dangerous, or can I not take xerelto and continue with Thrive, I love the product. It gives me energy and has helpled me lose some weight, and I'm sleeping great! ## Hello, Dave! How are you? Generally, anyone with impaired clotting, or who is on a medication like this that affects clotting should stay away from white willow bark, since it can also cause thinning. The FDA lists the typical side effects for Xarelto as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello did you ever find out if you can take it with thrive? Because I am also on xeralto but also want to start thr...

Xarelto and Lovenox

I have been on Xarelto for 2 years for DVT my doctor said, I have to be on it indefinitely. My problem is, I have 2 pills left and my insurance has been cancelled. I'm in the process of getting new coverage but it takes 5 to 7 business days. Can I go without Xarelto for several days? Should I take a Lovenox inj. that was prescribed for me before I started taking Xarelto? Would this be a problem? ## Hello, Nickie! How are you? Have you found a solution, yet? It would be best to call your doctor to ask them, before using the Lovenox. These medications may cause side effects such as nausea, increased risk of bleeding, easy bruising, and dizziness. As to the Xarelto, you should also be able to just purchase a few days worth from your pharmacy, until your new insurance coverage begins.

bruising, same efficacy, less bleeding

Have been on xarelto 20mg for over 6 years after 3 unexplained PE's. at 72, the bruising is increasing and asked my Doc for advice. He switched me to Xarelto 10mg. Any experience with 10mg? He indicated "less bleeding" and "same efficacy". My first thought was, if true, why wouldn't everyone be on 10mg? ## Hello, Alan! How are you? I understand what you're asking, and it's kind of hard to explain, but I'll try my best..... When it comes to medications, efficacy, and potency, are two different things. Efficacy is related to how well a medication works, it is not dependent upon the amount taken, generally the efficacy rate remains constant from one dosage to the next. So yes, a 10mg, and a 20mg dosage of the same medication have relatively the same leve...

coumadin vs. xarelto

I've been on coumadin since 2001 when I had a dvt and have had no problem with it...ever. Now, my doctor wants me to try xarelto, I'm scared. Should I stay on coumadin or make the switch? Thanks!! ## Well, in this case, what I'd suggest doing is going to your doctor and discussing it with them. Schedule a consultation, so you can have a sit down chat about it and ask them why they want you to make the switch, specifically what benefits do they see you getting from the new medication that you don't get with the old. It is really the best way to calm your fears and get the precise details you need that will enable you to make an informed decision regarding what the best choice is for you. Learn more Xarelto details here. Does anyone else have any advice to add? ## I had tr...

warfarin to xarelto

I had a DVT in 2001 and have been on warfarin since. I've had no problem with it and go every week to get my INR checked which is no big deal. Now, my doctor wants to switch me to Xarelto but I'm scared. Opinions will be GREATLY appreciated. thanks!! ## I though I'd already posted some advice for you….but then again, I am getting old, so I may have forgotten, or it could have been a post from someone entirely different…it's hard to tell with me! :-) Anyway….my best suggestion is to call your doctor's office and ask for a consultation appointment, that way you can sit down and talk to them about your concerns. Make sure to ask them as many questions as you can think of about the medication and what benefits they th...

Xarelto with back, joint and muscle pain

If anyone else experienced these symptoms, how long after being off the xarelto did symptoms go away? ## According to the US National Library of Medicine, all of the side effects you mentioned are typical of Xarelto (Rivaroxaban). They actually list "back pain" as one of the more common side effects patients experience, along with "arm/leg pain" being less common. It also goes on to list "joint or muscle pain", but declares it under a category called "incidence not known". Ref: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0045374/#DDIC603481.side_effects_section From my perspective, I'd say the severity of these symptoms could potentially outweigh the benefits of the medication itself. Have you had a chance to sit down with your doctor and go over any of this yet...

These blood thinners are deadly

Once you start taking this you will be on it until blood walls thin, then you will be begin to bleed inside, then they will make you stop taking it, and you will have a stoke or heart attack, there are many other ways to thin your blood. These blood thinner drugs are poison. They did this to my Mother and Father, and my sister as well. Please save your life and find an alternative. A natural coarse is always the best coarse of action. ## OMG THIS IS HORRIBLE POST IF TRUE.... I feel like my day and possible life is ruined from your post you better be spot on with taking the responsibility to post such a commentary. ## You didn't indicate where you got your medical degree when you posted this opinion. I have confidence in our medical system, including the prescription blood thinners t...

Was prescribed Xarelto 15 mg 2x daily two weeks ago for blood clot in the leg. I would like to keep taking the viamins/ supplements that I always took before this - I.e., B complex, Vit. C 1000 mg, Calcium/Magnesium, Vit D 2000 IU, Co-enzyme Q 10 200 mg, Biosil and Lutein. My doc said "no", but didn't tell me why not. Can't find any info anywhere to determine abiut this. Xarelto manufacturer has no info on package insert. Pharmacist doesn't seem to know either. I have read on another website that apparently the maket did not test for interactions w. vitamins, so they don't know. Does anyone here have any futher info regarding this? I feel that I really need to be taking my vitamins! ## Hello, Claire! How are you? Some vitamins can cause blood thinning and other m...

Stopping xarelto for surgery

Started Xarelto a year ago after blood clots after breast cancer surgery. Having surgery again in a week and was taken off xarelto until after surgery. I am now scared to be off this drug. Do I need to be scared of new clots even before surgery? ## Hi there, I've been on Xarelto for three years after having a stroke while in AFIB. Whenever I have a surgery (colonoscopy and total knee replacement) my doctor either puts me on an injectable two days prior or just stop taking it a day before the procedure. By all means speak to your doctor and express your concerns. ## How many days before dental surgery should I stop taking Xarelto 20 mg and how soon should I start again?

What to look for after 6 months of Xarelto therapy

I've been on Xarelto for 6 months for a dvt and after neck surgery, was told to stop today, but I didn't ask why and wasn't told if I needed to watch for any problems from here on in. Is there a chance of issues by not taking it anymore? ## There are some risks, such as the possibility of rebound clots and the subsequent health problems they could cause, according to FDA reports, but it is always best to follow your doctor's instructions. Are you on any other medications? ## Hi I’m back after writing about the Xarelto medication I have been on for about 8 weeks, for PE 2 large clots and many small ones, There were no side effects when I was on 15mg twice a day and after Three weeks 20mg, I have experienced dizziness ,headaches,Tinnitus, and more recently painful kne...

Toothache & jaw pain from Xarelto?

I have been on 20 mg of Xarelto for about 2 weeks after a week of 30 mg. I have developed pain in my lower jaw. I have seen my dentist who took X-Rays and probed the area. Nothing wrong with my teeth or jaw. Has anyone else experienced this? One of the less common side effects noted on websites is toothache. ## Xarelto has been known to cause joint pain, in some people that take it, as a side effect, and if that is the case, that could also be causing the pain you're describing as a toothache. I have a disorder in my jaw joints called TMJ, and when it acts up, the pain is quite horrible, and I will often feel like I have a toothache, even though I no longer have any teeth to ache, because I have dentures. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change, since your body has adjuste...

Xarelto - itching side effects

I have been taking Xarelto 15mg x2/day for almost 3 weeks and will go onto 20mg/day next week for the remainder of 3 months. I had a lower leg blood clot almost 3 wks ago. I have experienced some itching of my lower and upper legs and wonder whether it is something to worry about. I had thought that maybe the symptoms may relax when I go onto the lower dose. I chose Xeralto over Warfarin for the convenience of less blood checks and think I would prefer to remain on it. I have been unable to get through to the clinic or to speak to my doctor so will probably have to make an appointment but thought I would ask here and see if there was any advice available. I have also started with itching to one of my eyes yesterday though this may be due to a new cleanser which I have stopped using. Has...

Xarelto Side Effects

I am 36 years old with PE, multiple clots in both lungs, blockage to right valve of heart and DVT in left leg. I have no medical issues ever. My PE was diagnosed 3 weeks ago. My doctor put me on Xarelto. I am still on the 21 day, 15mg, 2x a day. I am lethargic, vomiting, severe night sweating, dizziness, blood in my stool, insane MIGRAINES and back aches. The bleeding side effects have landed me in the ER, 3x already. I really cant qualify which side effect is hitting me the worst. On top of it all this drug costs $316 a month and I am uninsured but employed. My financial status and insurance disqualify me for the free Xarelto plans. My doctors really believe this drug will most effectively and conveniently dissolve my clots. Can you offer a solution for free or discount Xarelto RX? Wil...

Side Effects of Xarelto--Permanent?

I was put on Xarelto 12 days ago, one 20mg pill per day for afib. Within 48 hours I started noticing lower back pain that's become progressively worse. Never having taken a blood thinner like this before, I'd like to know if anyone else has had this side effect with Xarelto, and if so, does it eventually go away as your body gets used to the medication? The last couple of days I can barely walk at times. If this is a permanent effect I can't stay on this med and function. I have no other side effects and wouldn't even know I was taking it otherwise. I do feel a lot better on it than not, which is why I hope this is temporary. ## Yes, it has been known to cause joint/muscle aches as side effects, according to FDA and user reports, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, i...

Side Effect on Xarelto about Weight Gain

I have been on Xarelto for about a month and my weight went up 25 to 30 lbs. Before I was on Xarelto I was taking Warfin and I was gaining any extra weight. I haven't been prescripted nor taken any other medications then the medications that has prescripted to me. I would like to know is there anyone else having this problem. ## Hi Tammy, Even though weight gain is not actually listed as being a possible side effect, I've actually been seeing quite a few posts from other individuals tracing it back to Xarelto as well. Unfortunately I find that in these types of cases, it seems like the only other options are to make more drastic changes to your diet; exercise harder/longer; or just stop taking what's triggering it to begin with. If you don't want to go that route, you ca...

xarelto fatigue

I've been on xarelto for 2 months following dvt in my leg. I take 20 mg a day. In addition to almost constant headaches I now feel faint, tired, and my pinky finger feels numb. I really do not feel well. I would like to switch to Coumadin which I took many years ago after my first dvt and pe. Any one else experience similar symptoms? ## Hello, Jojo! How are you? Yes, many people have experience such side effects from Xarelto and they are listed among those that are commonly expected by the FDA. You may also experience joint/muscle aches, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. However, Coumadin risks causing very similar side effects, plus it requires the regular INR testing, which you don't have to do with Xarelto. How long you will be taking it? ## Can you take vitamin B...

XARELTO/BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS/FATIGUE

My father went down hill fast after being on xarelto for 4 months, he has debilitating fatigue. he can no longer stand with out help. he has been in the hospital twice in 2 months and each time had to have a transfusion of 2 units of whole blood each time. My question is this: Will the fatigue and internal bleeding stop after he stops taking xarelto. ## Hello, Scott! How is your dad doing? Yes, they should stop, after he switches to a different medication. It sounds like this just isn't the right one for him to take. It is an anticoagulant, so it can increase the risk of bleeding and many people taking it have complained about the fatigue. Has he spoken to his doctor about it? ## I've been feeling tired and emotional could this be from Xarelto? ## May be. I got very teary when I...
