Xarelto Extremeties Painful Falling Asleep Sensation

Updated

Hello great tool and great forum! My name is Toby, I am 36 year old male whom was prescribed Xarelto due to Thrombosys Superficialius. It is painful as it is in my left thigh and is the size of my thigh. Outside of a year and half ago I was extremely health male whom life revolved around the gym where my 6'3" frame consistently weighed in at 250 with less than 10% body fat but after a complete Distal Bicep tendon rupture I have struggled to get an ounce of normalcy back in my health and life. I am writing due to conflicting feelings regarding Xarelto. I began taking Xarelto yesterday with the initial "starter pack" dose of 2 15mg pills daily. Last night was miserable can be defined as sleepless due to painful "falling asleep"sensation in extremities at night. Days are still frustrating as painful tingling/shocking sensation in arms and hands are present, they are bearable just very frustrating! Had some prior nerve pain since April but have endured the sleepless nights but Hangul of times recently and have not had the level of "sleepy" Extremeties for months. If this is normal for the first few days of beginning this medication I can get through it however if it's not going to get better QUICK than I do not believe the possible rewards outweigh the daily tribulations or other risks. Your input would be greatly appreciate and a careful metric designating the directive for whether Xarelto remains a cornerstone of my daily treatment regimine. Thank you.

Hello, Toby! How are you? I'm sorry about your health problems.

It's difficult to say if it will continue, or go away. Xarelto has gone both ways for some people, some had to stop taking it, but others are doing just fine on it.

Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, muscle/joint pain, increased risk of bleeding, headache and easy bruising.

If it continues, after you've taken it for several weeks, then you may need to speak to your doctor about trying a different medication.

Is there anything else I can help with?

I'm a healthy 56 year old female who has exercised and eaten right for 20 plus years. Last year I was diagnosed with severe PE due to what they believe was caused by years of being on hormone replacement therapy. I was given Xarelto in the hospital. I have been on it a little over a year and have noticed a sagging skin/muscle tone in arms and abdomen and legs despite continued exercise. And Worse I have had a tear in BOTH my distal Bicep Tendons with NO APPARENT INJURY! Last week my right arm tore from 50% to 95-98% when I turned my 12 1/4 pound grandson over!!!!! Now I am looking at surgery to repair my tendon. I am Convinced it is the Xarelto as that is the ONLY change in diet, exercise or medication. After the 2nd MRI I was switched to Pradaxa, but am scheduling an appointment with the Hematologist to see if I can stop taking a blood thinner altogether. Has ANYONE else had this experience?
