Withdrawal Symptoms Of Eliquis

I am a soon to be 71 year-old female with paroxysmal A-Fib--started 5 years ago. I take Eliquis 5 mg/twice daily. I generally am not in A-Fib, but for some dental and surgeries have needed to discontinue Eliquis 2 to 3 days prior. I have researched everywhere and spoke to my cardiologist and PCP as well asking about withdrawal symptoms. As even missing one dose, I get flushed, shaky, and increased heart rate until I go back on the drug. Even asked pharmacist but they look at all the info on the warnings label. I also take 240MG Cartia XL and 7.5 MG Norvasc and OTC omeprazole and Vitamin D and that's all. Anyone experience this?

It is normal to experience some types of mild withdrawal effects if you abruptly stop taking anything that you've been taking for a long period of time. It is usually nothing to worry about, unless you'd experience dangerous symptoms. How high does your heart rate go?

The typical side effects of Eliquis may include nausea, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising.

Eliquis is a direct acting anticoagulant and should have none of the side effects you describe. The most notable effect would be that you would not bruise as easily. The major problem with discontinued use would be in the area of anticoagulation.
