Will Lomotil Show Up As Morphine In A Saliva Drug Test?

I take oxycodone/acetamino. 7.5/325 for pain. I also take LOMOTIL prn for diarrhea. On my routine drug test(saliva), I tested positive for MORPHINE as well as the oxycodone. I have not been on MORPHINE since Oct. of 2013 (6 months ago). Why am I testing positive for Morphine now? Is it the Lomotil?

Hello, if the saliva test was a rapid screen test and you came up positive for anything whoever gave you the test should have sent a sample to a lab for a confirmation test using the GC/MS method of testing. If it was a rapid screening test like you can buy for home use, it is possible you got a false positive for some reason. FYI, the detection period for opiates in saliva is only 24-48 hours. I doubt if it is the Lomotil. Hope this helps.

THIS WAS A ROUTINE LAB TEST DONE AT THE PAIN MANAGEMENT CLINIC I GO TO. THE SALIVA TEST WAS SENT OFF TO THE LAB FOR TESTING AND CAME BACK POSITIVE FOR THE PERCOSET THAT I DO TAKE FOR PAIN NOW AND MORPHINE WHICH I HAVE NOT TAKEN SINCE OCT. 2013. THE LEVEL WAS GREATER THAN 50, SO THEY SAID IT WAS NOT CONTAMINATION AND WAS DEFINITELY METABOLITES OF MORPHINE...WHAT COULD CAUSED IT?

That's a good question. About the only thing I can recommend is to find a Medical Review Officer (MRO) who can evaluate your case. A MRO is a doctor trained to interpret drug test result and judge what is happening. You can find an MRO at aamro.com.
