Will I Pass A Drug Test While Taking Suboxone (Page 2)

I am on a suboxone treatment program and currently interviewing for several new jobs. I will have to take a pre-employment drug test and I am wondering if I will fail for an opiate due to the suboxone. I do not want to tell my future employer that I am in treatment for a past drug dependency and I am worried that the suboxone will make that impossible.

If you have read all the replies here then you will be confused about this. For some reason people who know one thing think they know everything and start giving advise when they are clueless. I've been given over 300 dt's now and not one have showed positive for Sub, and I've been on it for 6 years.

Hello i have a BIG question.. well important anyway.. i am being ordered by cps to go to a drug assessment place and i know they will give me a drug test .. all i have and have had in my system issubs.. i can NOT fail this but also i can NOT get off subs right now does anyone know what kind of drug test most assessment places use? And what they test for? I am terrified.. i do not need an investigation from them. I am not hiding anything from them other than this if i fail then god only knows what they will try to do.. HELP! Tx!!!

Okay i got to court wed.. n i been taking suboxone n if they drug test will it show up or no.. I'm really nervous about it.. i been on probation. I'm a single mother with two kids.. if it will show how i get out my system.. somebody plz help

you are absolutely right because I have tested 4 suboxone both ways urine & saliva & it did not show up, my suboxone doctor told me that it only shows up if they only test u 4 suboxone that is it there is no other way & he was absolutely correct. trust me I was scared because I work 4 the city & they use 2 give us urine test but they switched 2 saliva (DNA) & I have never ever had a problem with passing a drug test 4 suboxone, so whoever tells u different they either don't know what they are talking about or they are a police officer or probation officer just sending out the wrong info on here 2 try & scare ur ass & trust me they go on here a lot because my cousin is a cop & he told me that him & all his cop buddys go on these websites just 2 f*** with ppl like us fellow addicts but they think were all junkies, I say f*** them all cause they all got lil d**** with big guns & they were all picked on in high school so now there trying 2 get sum paybacks on high school bullys lol...

They cannot tell you what day of the month you have taken drugs...or they amount that is foolish. If THC is in your system...it can be very minimal....you might not have used any for approx. 4 weeks or less....and the day you take it show up...the same as if you smoked it before you went in for the test. The amount cannot be told nor the day that's very untrue.

THIS IS HOW I CLEANED UP ON SUBOXONE IN 3 1/2 DAYS.
Fact: I am on parole and subject to monthly random drug test. I know the day and time when I have to report. I control my usage around my report days. I also have legitamet disc problem in my lower back. It hurts like hell and sends shooting pains down my right ass cheek and into my right leg. As conditions of my parole I have to attend an IOP group 3x's a week for 6 months. Part of the IOP RULES AND REG's are you cannot be on any narcotics even tho prescribed from a license Physician. And it's either do these groups or go back to PRISON, and PRISON is NOT an option!!! So to control the pain and not over do my usage I take 2 8mg suboxone strips a week for 2 weeks and 5days. I simply cut them into smaller pieces as I feel necassery for each individual day. For the past 13 yrs since my car accident I have had 1 back spine surgery and see a specialist once every other month and am subscribed methadone 10mg 4 's a day. But since my "being at the wrong place on the wrong day" and went to prison then paroleing out 6 months later but having to attend this narcotic free IOP group I can't take my medication til I complete my 56 sessions or if I do, go back to prison and like I said PRISON is NOT an option!! So I self medicate. TRAGITY STRIKES: I get a call from my PO on a Thursday. She explained " I need to see you @ 8am Monday morning. I am planning my vacation and it's gonna fall on ur report week and I need to see you this calander month." I think immediately F**K ME!!!!! Thats 2 weeks EARLY!!! Everything I read is telling me 7 days to detox from suboxone.. I always give myself a lil more than 7 days just to be safe, cause prison is not an option!! I have basically 3 1/2 days to be clean.. I am a 6'3" 191 pd male. I immediately begin a poor man rapid detox on myself with water on friday and Saturday. I DID NOT OVER-DUE IT, because water poison is a real possability. I simply kept my-self hydrated and urinated about 2x's an hour from eye open to eye shut and a cpl x's thru the night.On Sunday I went to Wal-mart and got 2quarts of cranberry juice and 1 32 oz jug of Gatorade and 1 box of sure-gel. I consumed 1 1/2 quarts of of the cranberry juice on the sunday. Monday morning I got up at 5am and consumed the other half quart of cranberry juice. @ 6:30am I mixed the sure-jell into the gatoraid and shook it up and drank the 32oz jug with in 2 min. I urinated 3xs in the next hr and at 7:30 I took 2 energy men's health 1 a day vitamins to put color back into my urine. ALL THIS ON AN EMPTY STOMACHE..I took a 16oz bottle of water and consumed it on my way to the po's office. Im sweating bullets and getting more nervous by the mile the closer I get to the office. I get there and check in and sure enough I'm told to go to the drop room. DAMN!!! IM HIT LIKE CAT S***, I'm telling myself as I walk.. I'm handed the cup & the officer walks in with me. I start my stream into the toilet and piss mid-stream into the cup. They test it &'IM CLEAN!!! WOW.. So I KNOW for a fact that based on the dosage I take daily that you can be clean in at least 3 1/2 days. I don't know what ever1 else's dosage is But this was mine and this is how I done it and how I know in a pinch I get get cleaned up. I'm writing this because I couldn't find the truth about suboxone and how long a certain dose stays in ur system but now I know and you do to. THIS IS THE TRUTH AND THIS IS HOW I DID IT, nothing more. I hope this helps some desperate soul in time of need.

Suboxen is a opiate it will show up as that. The reason people question this is because of the fact it is a different type of opiate then others. You can flush it out of your system in 2-3 days by stopping taking it and drink bathtubs full of water

If you can't figure out the answer by reading the replies, one more won't convince you. For a dt to find Suboxone it has to be a special test for buprenorphine. Don't worry.

Hi there doctor, im currently on a suboxone management program and I have a wonderful opportunity for my family of four with new employment. I keep getting mixed reviews on buprenorphine screening and I live in a state where an employers dont play games when it comes to urinalysis'. I read what you wrote and I'm wondering if a lab screening will show buprenorphine. I get urine test twice a week and my counselor never tells me suboxone levels or results. I guess I'm asking if a special test other than a pre-employment screening is required to detect buprenorphine? I think honesty is the best policy but a new employer will not see it that way. I will be a dirty addict to them if I tell them, and I liar if I fail the test. Thank you.

You are full of sh*t. Im in a treatment programs and I see my test results twice a week and it does not show up. Quit giving false info dumbs*it. Addiction is a disease, quit scaring good folks.

they only test for it in a 10 panel drug test... if you have a 5 panel it does not show up.. also it is detected under Buprenorphine not opiate

People who think those of us that have tested positive are just trying to "scare folks" are ridiculous. I was prescribed xanax by my doctor and I was stupid enough to tell him that my mom gave me valium when I ran out of my xanax and couldn't get it refilled right away ( I was being honest with my doctor...best policy right?). He ordered a drug screen. I asked all over the internet and kept being told that it won't show up unless specifically tested for. WRONG! I went to Quest Diagnostics lab and they perform the 10 panel drug screens. My doctor had no reason to test for buprenorphine and I saw the order and results and there was no request for it. But it showed up on the 10 panel drug screen and f***ed me over with my doctor. I had to find a new doctor because without explaining myself, he would no longer prescribe my xanax.

So YES, in a 10 panel drug screen, which most places use now, buprenorphine WILL show up if still in your system. If you're lucky enough to have a place that is still using the very outdated 5 panel testing, then no it won't show up. When the 5 panel was the norm, the only way to test positive was to give a specific test for buprenorphine. Now buprenorphine has been added to the larger 10 or 12 panel tests. I found this out the hard way by listening to someone online who said the lab had to test SPECIFICALLY for buprenorphine in order for it to show up. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Those of you that don't want to listen...I hope the lab you go to is outdated and using the old 5 panel drug screens. Look up online or call any lab and ask what is included in their drug screens.

I have been taking a very low dose of suboxone and took gave me a drug test and it said I had failed for opiates. How is this possible? I also had no clue they even were drug testing me. I did a urin sample because I thought i hadva uti infection. Can they do that without telling me? I need someone to help me understand what to do. Then I get a crazy huge bill for the test and I'm just so confused. Please help.

I think it honestly depends on the test. I just took a 12 panel at home test and am on 8 mg suboxone per day and it did show up as OXYCODONE. I haven't taken one of those in over 5yrs so it has to be the sub.

Be assured suboxone does not show up as an opiate or any other drug that will get you in trouble after a drug test.
My cpn worker told me this as I was worried about getting drug tested as part of an oil related job and he should know as he actually performs the drug testing for an oil company.so your in the clear unless they perform a specific test that includes testing for bup but it is a test rarely if atoll undertaken.

nothinbutthetruth - s*** i just read your whole post and i'm so sorry! this is why our legal system is so totally f***ed! you're tryin to do the right thing & stay off drugs while you're in immense pain and instead of praising you for doing the right thing you're forced to completely detox off of meds that usually take like years to get off of in 3 1/2 days! thats insane! i just seriously can't get it through my mind that these can possible see it as a BAD thing that you're on suboxone! its not like you can get high off this s*** or something. now methadone ya know you can get high off of so i could see some hesitation there, but even then, still, its WAYYY better than being on actual opiates. so sad. seriously GOOD LUCK with everything, cause that sounds like a living hell. but hopefully it can only get better from there!
