I gained that much on methadone also. I recently switched to suboxone. just coming off the methadone on a slow detox I lost 20lbs! :-) I can't tell you for sure what will happen but I know I have seen a lot more people stay slim on suboxone than Methadone.

Withdraw sumptoms mean you're there (your synapses are clear below normal saturation, thus why you feel "like crap)...go for it.

If you want, you can take 'a crumb' of the suboxone, see what happens. Anything under 2 mg of suboxone won't have much of a competitive antagonist quality so your risk of PW are slim...but I will warn you...every single person is vastly different.

I switched from 20 mg to 4 mg with zero issues after 72 hours.

If you feel like you are in withdrawal you are likely ready. However, taking it too soon is horrible. If your methadone dose was higher than 30 mg a day I would defiantly wait until you are feeling pretty awful. Diarrhea twitching etc . By then you should be okay. I don't mean constant twitching and diarrhea either. Starting of those symptoms. Just my experience. Check with your doctor.
