Why Concerta Is Not Showing Up In A Urine Test

My six year old is taking concerta. When we went for his follow up at the Dr they said it wasn't showing up in his system when he takes it everyday. What could cause this?

Do you know what type of test they're using? If it's just a standard 5 panel, then Concerta can't be detected with it. They have to be using a certain specific test, or expensive more in-depth ones to detect it, because it's not actually an amphetamine, though it shares some characteristics with them. Some general practitioners aren't aware of this.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia and weight loss.

Hello, I had the same thing happen. I am an adult and I take the med every day at the same time. They did a standard tox screen as well as another test called “amphetamine quant urine”. Both were negative and the office called to inform me that they can no longer write the script for me. All they will tell me is that they have to refer me to “psych”. They works not explain anything to me and they made me feel like a criminal.
