Who Is Foolish Enough To Voluntary Take Risperdal

I was forced 6 monthly injections of this. I am dying wih over 50 side effects from this med. It is torture and poison. I gained 100 lbs in 6 months and I only weighed 140 before. One year later Now I got diabetes and I am getting my foot amputated. I have been bed ridden since the second shot. From Lancaster, WI

Hello, Shane! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems you've had.

However, Risperdal is a beneficial medication for many people. It is classified by the FDA as a very potent antipsychotic and for some people, it is the only way they can get their conditions under control and lead a normal life.

Weight gain is a well known side effect of it, along with somnolence, drowsiness, sedation and dry mouth.

It can cause diabetes, but it's very rare, it occurs in less than 0.1% of patients that take it.

Is this the only medication you were taking?

Hi Shane,

My mother was forced to have these injections. I understand that sometimes people have to put up with side effects to get relief from symptoms, but THIS SHOT MADE HER SYMPTOMS WORSE, plus gave her frequent and massive panic attacks. In addition to making her so tired she had difficulty caring for herself.

I complained to her doctor that she was still just as fearful and delusional as before, but now she’s worse anxiety wise, less motivation and energy, extreme weight gain when she was a heavy type 2 diabetic already. The f***ing doctor upped her dose and she complained her bowels stopped working. She went to an ER and the only way she could go was with colonoscopy prep.

She killed herself the other day. I blame this medication. It made her psych symptoms worse, made her too tired to try to help herself, and made her so constipated she stopped eating.

And they upped her f***ing dose.

She was under a conditional release from the state hospital so if she stopped seeing them she would be taken back. Had I known they upped her dose after I complained I would have made her go back.
