Why did they take you off of it?

Do you mean your pharmacy just switched which one they're providing?

If that's the case, you can ask if they can order that one back in for you. You just may have to pay any price difference between it and their current one, because your insurance usually won't.

As to the ones that fall off, there are also solutions available for that, there are some medical tapes and overlay patches that you can get to prevent them doing that.

Did you have a drug test?? Even if they don't find illegal drugs in your system, if you don't have oxy in your urine they assume you are misusing them or selling them

I am sorry you re faced with this, So you had tHC in your system without a legal marijuana card holding status? most clinics in most states are strict and make you chose between opiates or marijuana. To my surprise I know of a PM clinic that will writ your opiates for you But you Must have a legitimate, valid marijuana card ..called a redcard in CO...

This is a reply to Chaos regarding the Fentanyl Patch falling off easily. The first question is are you using the resovoir of the matrix (drug in glue, no resovoir) or the resovoir. 1st, I think the resovoir type is the best for sticking and for pain relief. I tried the matrix and I had the same problem. With the resovoir they stick the best on the chest or the back. If it starts to peel up around the edges use 3M Transparent arount the edges only. if this fails you can get Bioclusive clear adhesive dressing or Tegraderm. They are expensive, my home town lets me have 50 @ $90; so use these sparingly. If you have anymore questions please send me a post is that is possible; I've been using them since 2000

If your an alcoholic and take that much oxy. You can die. He took you off to cover his ass, rightly so. Alcohol mixed with any pain , sleeping, tranquilizers and anti depressants is not to smart. He did the right thing. He is sending you a message. He took an oath to practice medicine ethically. He is taking himself out of the spiralling mess your headed down

I have had three different kinds of patches prescribed to me. Two are just like thick tape with stickem over the whole patch. One has a compartment with a gel inside that only has stickem around the outside edges of the gel compartment. The gel type are awful. They come off and don't seem to provide the same kind of pain relief that the other two do. Using that transamerm fake skin helps keep mine on, even while swimming, but do not go in a hot tub with the patch on, never, or a sauna bath.

I had my pharmacy order and stock....3M. Medipore tape. I use this over my patch. It is porous so air can circulate. You dont want to use waterproof, notorious tape as this could cause you to get more than one dose at a time brought on by sweating under the tape. I have used this tape for over a year now with no problems. This tape sticks very well til you take it off to change your patch.

Regarding Fentanyl patches...Mylan brand works the best for me. They are smaller, more flexible and have some "give" to them rather than the patches that have the gel inside the patch. I put mine on my lower abdomen, or you can try the hip area. You need to place them over an area with the most fat--that is how the medication is absorbed. Also, try any kind of silk tape to keep the patch in place. When you place the patch, hold it in place with your whole hand for 60 seconds. This will activate the glue to hold better.

Star Says:

I wear mine on the side of my hip so the underwear elastic holds it and compresses it on because I take mine off when I shower and sometimes at night when I don't feel I need them. Of course when I wake up, I'm stiff, so I put it back on my hip and within an hour, my pain subsides. I find when I sweat, it absorbs more. I like the gel kind cuz they are easier to see how much medicine has been used. The foil back ones are like gum when they get wet and this is the new formula. The smaller non gel ones I think fall off IF u remove it and try to do my daytime use method.

You can buy tegaderm clear covers from Amazon. It's pretty cheap and they work great for keeping them on. Even if you go swimming.

Tom P Says:

Tegaderm and Bioclusive patches are too expensive!

Amazon Prime price 50 patches: $25.50
"3M Tegaderm Transparent Dressing with Label 4" x 4 3/4" (10 x 12 cm) 50 per Box"
Box of 50 for $26.50 = $0.53 each.

Amazon price 50 patches: $223.00
"Bioclusive Transparent Dressings #2463 (4x5"") (Box of 50)"
Box of 50 for $223.00 = $4.46 each.

Amazon Prime price roll 4-inch x 11 yards:
"Smith & Nephew 5466000041 Opsite Flexifix 4 Inch x 11 Yards Transparent Film Dressing"
yields 82 patches for $23 = $0.28 each!

More important, the flexifix holds BETTER than Tegaderm! MUCH BETTER!!!

Holds about the same as Bioclusive.

I spend hours a day in a hot tub because of my arthritis. The tegaderm came off in the hot tub and in a shower. Flexifix do not. I change my patch every other day because they don't last three days. I have needed to change a patch early because of sweating and water leaking behind the patch twice in the last five years!

Tompart Says:

Tegaderm and Bioclusive are not as good as the Smith/Nephew flexifix. A 11 yard roll cost about $28. This works out to about $0.45 per patch.
They hold much better than Tegaderm or Bioclusive. I spend a couple of hours per day in a hot tub! The patches hold just fine. I've been doing this since 2002!

Re: chaos (# 2)

I have the same problem, but if you call the company that's producing the patches and explain to them the problem they will send you a box of plastic overlays like the IV covers they use in the hospital.
