White Beads Vs Orange Beads

Updated

I'm prescribed 15 mg adderalls. I always get the name brand (blue/white capsules) which have orange beads.

For some reason, the pharmacist gave me a generic version (orange pills)with white beads inside. This is the second time this happens in the last year and both times I noticed the beads were white and the generic brand seems to have quite a bit less beads than the name brand.

I thought they were supposed to both be equal just different name brands. Why does the generic brand with white beads have less beads than the name brand which has the orange beads?

The reason I bothered to check and I'm concerned is because last time I got the generic kind, they seemed less effective and like I was taking a lower dose. I haven't started taking the generic ones I recently got refilled because I still got some of my name brand adderalls left from last month but I wanted to know why the generic has less white beads and if they are actually equally effective.

The amount of 'beads' in them is irrelevant, as long as they contain the proper amount of the medication.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, mood changes, and anorexia.

Have you started taking this one, yet? If so, how is it working for you?

Thank you for your reply. Okay, I'm glad the amount of beads is irrelevant, I thought this generic version had less and that's why it didn't seem to work well last time.

I started taking it Monday of this week and it is worse than last time I took it which was back in March of this year. It keeps me awake as usual but as far as focus it dies the exact opposite. I unconsciously zone out at very random moments for no reason and more frequently than I would off the meds.

Last time I took it in March it felt as if I was taking a much lower dose. Then the next month when I was given a refill with the name brand I felt a huge difference, as if I had been put back on my regular dose.

I'm glad you mentioned that the amount of beads is irrelevant because I think there is a good chance this is all just in my head since I noticed that this generic kind with white beads contained almost half the beads as the name brand. I hope this is the case, I just couldn't think of how almost half of the beads could possibly equal the same 15 mg but then again, I know nothing about the making and structure of these drugs.
