White Watson Lortab

Updated

I just picked up my RX for generic Lortab and was told that lortab will no longer be made, I am a chronic pain sufferer and I have severe back pain along with severe nerve damage, I have been on this medicine for a while now and it works for me, now I have to ask my doctor about some other medicine that may or may not work. I dont know what else that I can use or tolerate. I need information on other types of medicines in this group.

It will still be made. The tylenol will be lower but the hydrocodone will be in 5, 7.5 and 10 mg. Sometime in 2014 hydrocodone combination products will become Schedule II which means no refills, rx has to be written can't be called in, etc. They will still make it, it is too big of a money maker for the pharmaceutical companies.

Hello, Vicki! How are you?

What BL stated is correct, it will still be available, but the amount of Acetaminophen in all such combination products will be lowered to no more than 325mgs per dose.

The FDA requested that this change be made due to the risks of liver damage or failure that can occur with long-term use of high amounts, plus the risk of overdose.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Learn more Lortab details here.

Some companies have already begun to make the change to their products and the rest are supposed to have it completed by January 2014, which is only a few weeks away.

The reason they said that Lortab would no longer be available is because it contains over 500mgs of Acetaminophen, it was the name brand Norco that only contained 325mgs.

Are there any other questions or concerns?

I too, am a patient with extensive back issues that cannot be repaired and have been on Lorcet & Lortab for years with fairly adequate relief.
Since the company (Watson mainly) started putting out the generic drug Lortab 10/325 mg, White or yellow tablet marked 853, I have noticed a SIGNIFICANT reduction in its efficacy!!
It is my belief that they not only reduced the Tylenol which is understandable, but possibly the Hydrocodone dose as well!!! This is EXTREMELY unfair and risky business! Especially for the millions of patients who are in LEGITIMATE pain
including those who have undergone surgery!!!! TRUE PAIN IS NOT FUN!!!
For years I have had relief within 20 minutes and now I can take TWO of the NEW versions, still resulting in inadequate PAIN relief!!! They make me sleepy but little else!!!
Is this more of the GOVERNMENT Mandates, invading and CONTROLLING our lives as Americans because "they know what's best" for us??????
Can anyone do investigating and help MILLIONS of people who are TRULY in need. I am currently a retired Registered nurse, a mom and 57 years old. Getting older does notake things easier and I AM NOT A drug seeking person!!!
Just looking for a little relief!!!!
Can someone help?????

I know that this is an old post that I am replying to but I could not agree with you more about the gov't interfering with every aspect of our lives. I'm a 55 yr. old house painter with arthritis in both my shoulders. I'm up & down ladders, carrying 5 gallon buckets of paint, & tremendous constant stretching daily. I've never been "high" on Lortab but they make getting through my work day possible. All the new versions don't compare to the pink 10mg's I used to get. Some people will abuse anything but why punish us who have a legitimate need for relief?
