A friend had them and was told it was oxycodone 30mg. Is this possible?

It's not an Oxycodone tablet that's available in the U.S. All manufactured prescription tablets available in the U.S. are required by law to have unique imprints to enable their identification.

Without any markings, it is most likely something that is available over the counter and they were lied to by whomever they purchased them from. However, there is a small chance that it could be a foreign medication, but that's very doubtful.

Are there any other questions or comments?

Look VERY carefully to see if it has a number on one side. It may be 5, 15, or 30. Also, put it right next to a pill that you are familiar with that is supposed to be white. Your unidentified pill may be slightly red, blue, or green, but the tint is SO slight that it isn't noticed until you put it side by side with a pill that you KNOW is white. If you see any of these signs, then your buddy got the real deal. However, if you do see the numbers that I mentioned, the number is the mg amount. Also, if you got the real stuff, it's ONLY the oxy, there's no filler, from what I understand.
