I have these oblong pills with A 1 on one side and 58 on the other. What are they?

The closest match I'm finding to your description is that of a white round pill marked with "A" over "158", with a horizontal score line in between. This particular pill is identified as Meperidine hydrochloride 50 mg; a narcotic analgesic indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe pain.

Manufacturer: Actavis US
National Drug Code (NDC): 52152-0158

Does this sound like it could be a viable match?

I believe you are viewing upside down. Could possibly be TV 58. Tramadol hydrochloride is used in the treatment of chronic pain; back pain; pain; rheumatoid arthritis; vulvodynia (and more), and belongs to the drug class miscellaneous analgesics.
