Which Do You Prefer: Accord Or Actavis Clonazepam?
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I've been taking Accord .05mg which I split in half every 2 to 3 hours, for about a month and a half after they stopped making my Sandoz Clonazepam brand. It's okay. It's starting to work somewhat, but I have a problem. Two weeks ago I am not told that Accord is getting harder to keep in stock by my Pharmacy and my insurance plan wanted to switch me to Actavis. YUCK, that stuff is garbage. I took 7 pills, couldn't stand it anymore how it made me feel. I got jumpy, my body itched, it took almost 2 hours to start working, and it never felt quite right. I said no I need to get the Accord again. My question is, is anyone else having this problem with Actavis, or is it just me? And did the Actavis taper down on the itchiness and start to work for those who are new to taking it? I'm flustered cause I never had this problem with Sandoz in the 15 years I took that med. Thank you.

Yes. I took another brand that made me sick. I don't remember which. I switched to Solco and took it for years with no problem. Pharmacy gave me Accord and after three doses I am staggering around all day. I am going to call the pharmacy tomorrow to see if I can get Solco

Re: Joseph (# 25) Expand Referenced Message

I have taken Solco for years with no problem pharmacy gave me Accord for some reason. After taking one pill at night for three days I am staggering and can't stay awake during the day. I am going to see if I can get Solco. Not all generics are the same in spite if what pharma companies tell us

Re: Jace (# 45) Expand Referenced Message

I live in Arizona and I've been taken this for 25 years.
And you're right you cannot stop or quit taking it because you will get worse. But as for not being able to find Teva I was curious when I started reading this and I got up and I looked at my bottle and on my pills and there it is the word TEVA SO THEY HAVE TO STILL BE MAKING IT.

Yeah I've talked to them too. They said they brought back the 1mg and didn't have a release date on other strengths.

Re: Jace (# 49) Expand Referenced Message

CVS has the 1mg, the .5s should be next since they are the most common. Teva never said they weren’t making them. I’ve been talking to them for months and they said the would be back to the old formulation by end of summer which is now. Don’t believe me? Call them. They’re back in many States, read any other forum on this topic and you’ll see many reports of the 1mg being back. I’m waiting for the .5 which should be soon.

Re: Sam (# 46) Expand Referenced Message

TEVA is in the process of coming back, they’ve started to release their 1 mg and the other strengths soon should follow. It’s the exact same formulation as it was before they switched to Actavis.

I've been tapering for almost two months using Solco/Qualitest. It's working, started at 1.5mg per day and now I'm down to 0.9mg

Re: Jenn (# 40) Expand Referenced Message

I took Teva for 15 years, was my favorite of all clonopins. A couple of years ago I could not find them anywhere. Finally on Accord, I find a clonopin that works well. Activas, name brand and all others did not Solco works well. I take Accord 1 mg 3 times and Solco 4 mg at bedtime

Re: Venita (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

Let’s be honest. If you’ve been on benzos for 10 freaking years you’re hopelessly addicted to them whether u want to admit it or not. Try stopping you’ll have grand mal seizures brain zaps. It’s worse than opiate withdrawal. So for me I’ll continue to take my klonopin and any other benzo usually Xanax that s*** sucks but for panick attacks it’s a miracle. Long term absolute nightmare I was in Xanax for 10 years then couldn’t stand it anymore switched to Valium. That s*** sucked worse so I found happiness in klonopin it’s long lasting and it does the job. It’s not for u to feel high and s*** ppl and I’ve noticed a huge diff in TEVA and now accord/actavis which is what I’m stuck with every two or three months. I take 3mg a day have been up to 6mg a day. And I’ve came to accept the fact that if I try to quit then mmm it will never work I’ve tried 13 times. However I’m 6 years clean off any and all opiates. I kicked thag but can’t benzos. They’re awesome but they’re evil. And u ain’t been on em for 13 yrs or for a long time if You don’t agree with me because they are absolutely the hardest drug to quit. So just don’t even think about it that’s horrible. Yah teva is gone and NO they are NOT making it again. So get used to what u get it get brand name. A lot of it is in your head. So just don’t think about it. Give it a shot before everyone else makes your opinion for you.

Re: Kevin (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

My doctor writes accord brand or Sandoz brand only in all my scripts. Certain meds need certain different generics ppl are all different. One generic of clonazePAM I;E ACTAVIS pharmacist the worst klonopin I’ve ever in my life bad the unfortunate time of taking it! I was on teva since 2008 and it did wonders now I’m stuck on accord and it’s sucky I have to take more of it and my doc I tell her all this and she writes whatever generic is best for her patient. Nobody can tell the doctor how you feel. You pay good money for their services and these junk meds we get. So next time ask for a specific brand:)

yellow I think. Then she prescribed Mylan 2 mg. which had to be split. Those worked better than any of the others besides TEVA.

Re: Sam (# 8) Expand Referenced Message

I could only take the TEVA brand too. Tried all of the other generics. Finally, months later my doctor is prescribing the non-generics! I have been on the 20 years or so.

Re: Kevin (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Walmart carries Accord and if you can get your Dr to call them they can put the fact that you can only receive Accord into your file so they can keep it ordered for you. Accord and Walmart work together and I have had no problems compared to when I was trying other pharmacies. I'm in NM and TX Wal-Mart's do the same. Give it a try. Good luck!!!!

I am getting worried about my clonazepam script. I have been on many brands but my pharmacy changed to accord a long time ago so I'm used to it. A few days ago I went to refill my clonazepam and they told me they were having a hard time getting the accord brand and they could only give me a 3 day supply until they could get something else. I have no idea what brand they will be able to get if any. I cannot skip this medicine I have been on it for 6 years. I hope these companies and the pharmacies get their stuff together in the next day. The brand they gave me a three day supply of was Purepac and I have tried to research if they are under another brand like activis but I can't find any record of them being the same. I wouldn't mind this brand because it feels the same as the accord I was on. I guess we will see really soon like tomorrow.

Another vote for Accord. I was using Solco/Qualitest for a few months but it's not as good.

For the first time I was prescribed Actavis instead of Accord. Actavis is s*** and ineffective. Accord is far superior.
