8 mg a day is too much. Most doctors will not provide mega doses of this medicine without knowing you. Also many States watch Xanax prescriptions now.

Due to the new regulations that were put in place this year, if you require such medications on an ongoing basis, you'll have to see a specialist to have them prescribed. Since it has the potential to be habit forming, the DEA wants the use of it to be closely monitored, so general practitioners and surgeons can no longer prescribe them for anything other than very short periods of time.

And, as Eddy has said, 8mgs a day is too high of a dose. The most that can be prescribed now would be the maximum recommended daily dose and that would be 6mgs of the extended release and 4mgs of the regular release.
Thus, before anyone could suggest a doctor, you'd need to state why you take it, so the correct specialists could be suggested.

My doc suddenly said she can’t write me my Clonapin becuz I have Medicaid!! But she wrote it for others that see her! I need Clonazepam (Clonapin) for my PTSD,Vertigo and sleep apnea. I have been on them for YEARS! So I am also looking for a doctor who actually listens and knows better not to take meds away like that!! But I am from Mass. So I’ll pay out of pocket for them idc I just want a legit script!!!

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance and I'm looking for a doctor that can write me Xanax or Klonopin as I've been on them since the age of 14 and now being 41, I'm desperately trying to find a new doctor down here in Huntsville Alabama. One final thought about Florida. I left there in 2006 and a few years later Florida legalized Opioids. You just had to visit Doctors working out of strip mall clinics, usually located near tattoo shops & massage parlors like the one Robert Kraft, owner of Kraft foods was caught in. Now Doctors are under intense scrutiny prescribing any Opioids and Benzodiazepines nationwide because of what happened there.

I don't think Ver takes Xanax, but many seniors are being removed from Benzodiazepines. A Lot has to do with Doctor liability issues, especially with seniors. It is something I have been aware of for some time now, it's in printed materials for prescribing this drug. I am now very much almost in the same boat as you but have not experienced this problem yet, my Doc is about 74, I have been going to him for 10 years! What you were told is not true, although Physician groups are making up their own rules & standards. Even the medical assistant at my Doctor's office told me everyone is only allowed 2 Xanax per day. I told her she had no idea what she was talking about, was she a Doctor, what form & strength would these two pills be, she had no idea. Finally, I asked her not to speak with me anymore, that really astonished her. There was a little more to this story, and yes I got my normal amount. Plus I have many extras. This is something that all seniors should be aware of. Many Doctors are not aware or just don't care about the patient when certain types of medication are discontinued. I wrote about this last week, I have no problems getting Xanax, but couldn't get new prescription Eye drops that help you see?

Hello Verwon, I have been taking 0.5 ml of Xanax 3 x daily for 33 yrs. I am now 66 yrs old and have never abused it . It may only work for most folks a short time, but for me it has helped all this time. I recently moved back to Athens, Al after being in Florida for a yr. I went to my Dr and was surprised to learn I could only get it from a psychiatrist. I'm finding it hard to find someone to see me. If u can help it would be appreciated.
