Where Do You Fill Dilaudid 8mg?

I, too, have been having a serious problem finding a pharmacy that will (or can) fill my perscription for 120 dilaudid (hydromorphone) 8mg tablets. I am in the end stages of cervical cancer that has spread too far for treatment. The doctors all say "we will keep you comfortable." My perscription was written 18 days ago and after calling a few pharmacies and realizing that would not get me any answers, I had to have someone physically take me to 24 pharmacies only to be told they don't have them at all or that the ones they get go to their regular customers and that the suppliers are only sending them a very limited quantity each month and they can't even order enough to fill my perscription at all. I have been able to fill a one week supply of the 4 mg twice but now that pharmacy (the only one I use regularly) doesn't even have a week's supply left if I had my doctor write me a smaller amount. At this point I don't know what to do and my heart goes out to the other I'll patients who are having the same problem. I just wish the doctors would communicate with the pharmacists about what is available before the doctor writes the perscription that leads to so many problems for the patient and their caregivers.

Hello, Cheryl! I am so very sorry about the problem that you're having and about your health. I really hate to hear of anyone suffering.

The main problem is that each pharmacy is limited to only being able to order a certain amount of each controlled substance, per month.

Would it be possible for you to get a pain pump that uses a liquid analgesic, rather than an oral tablet? You might want to try asking your doctor about it and see if it's an option for you.

Hello Cheryl...Im so sorry for all you are going through

here are a few ideas:

1. call some 'compounding pahrmacies' and ask to speak to the paharmacist (no one else)...tell him /here what you said here....they have extensive knowledge and can refer you to get a REAL result.

2. go to a pharmacy that provides medication to hospitals...they have large quantities on hand at all times.... I bet they will help you, make sure to tell them your story....blessings
