This website has no affiliation with Purdue, it is an information only website.

Learn more Oxycontin details here.

That said, they have no intention of bringing back the original product and there are no pharmacies in the U.S. that have it in stock to fill your prescription. I'm sorry, I know many people have problems with it, since it doesn't seem to be as effective.

Have you considered switching to a different medication?

I have noticed over the past few months that my oxycontin med is not working the same as well as causing me to have severe side effects.! I have never had these problems over the last 13 years taking this medicines. First I was told I may have an allergic reaction to the red dye. I am now having more problems with my stomach and bowels. Severe pains in my lower stomach. Not to mention the more severe dry mouth, nasty poopy taste, shaking, loss of muscle use, dizziness, severe sweating when just getting up,fast heart rate, burning in my esophogus(worsening)severe leg pains, severe cramps/acute pain in my stomache. My doctor has put it off as perhaps my allergies(none to this for 13 yrs) or maybe beginning of an ulcer,or possible flu going around. I know its from this new medication change. I can be feeling just fine and then after approx 30 minutes after taking my meds all hell breaks lose.My system has not been the same for months since taking this medication.! After months of trial and error this was the only medication I was able to take that took the edge off my pain.! How can you make so many people suffer for a few handful of abusers.! This is pure nonsense.! My life has no meaning now, I can barely get out of the house to do an errand without paying for it with extreme pain later in the day..Please find another way to fight the addict war and give us,the people who do not abuse them our lives back, or what is left of it..I have never abused any of my pain meds and I am so upset that you had to take the one thing I have relied on in life and made it a horror to take.! Theres nothing else out there that works the way my oxycontin DID...Please put my medication back the way it has been the last 13 yrs so I can enjoy my grand children and MY life again, what little time I do have left.!

I know this is old, BUT, Oxycontin will NEVER return to the OC formula.....this is according to the FDA website. In fact, they also said, generics of it are not allowed because some companies were trying to make the OC formula and pass it off as the OP, "new" formula. That will not be allowed to happen. Neither anywhere in the US or outside of it, OC Oxy will not be sold inside the U.S. I mean, foreign companies will not be allowed to sell us oxycontin that isn't OP formula. This is what I recently read on their website. So many people have complained that the OP's are not as good for pain because of the "antiabuse" substance in the med and now they are trying to do the same thing with ALL narcotics.... No matter if they are long or short acting.....by adding naltrexone to the meds they will become "abuse-proof." I don't understand HOW that will metabolize in the system as the FDA has said the naltrexone will not be released into the body UNLESS they are broken up (understandable) OR if you take too many at once (not understandable). How does your body KNOW how much is too much in order to release the naltrexone? I'm not a scientist but that doesn't sound right to me. Of course we can all understand HOW when the pill is broken up or even melting the pill, but swallowing whole? If anyone can explain this, please do! I don't take oxycontin as I'm allergic to one or more of the inactive ingredients, but I do take Hydrocodone which doesn't work well for me but I had a BAD experience I had never had before from percocet made by a company in India. No, I didn't buy them over the Internet.....it was Actavis pharmaceuticals, based out of India, and I had problems with BOTH their hydro and oxycodones as did thousands of other people. You can look it up on this forum. Just type in Actavis and HYDROCODONE, oxycodone, or just actavis. You will find a lot of info on them! I have absolutely no luck with ANY med from India. It must be an inactive ingredient they use in all their formulas but there are way too many people having trouble with their "formulas" to be confident in taking ANY of their products, IMHO. I also found this, in myself, in another pharma company based out of India.....they provide the U.S. With 40-60% f all our generic meds! No way am I going there. I will ask with EVERY Rx I get who the manufacturer is before I fill them! I don't care if it's just a topical cream, I will not use it!
