I heard that the patent for Hyzarr would be expired in 2009. However, I haven't found generic one for Hyzarr in US market. Does anyone know when it will be available?

Hyazaar contains the active ingredients Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, it is used mainly to treat high blood pressure.

That said, it is hard to say when a generc may be available. There are occasions where the company that has the proprietary patent can get extensions, before other companies will be allowed to market a generic.

Have you tried talking to your doctor about a possible cheaper alternative?

I usually get a 90 day Hyzaar order and with insurance it usually runs $180.00. I went to pick up that prescription today and it was $222.00! Is this because of the patent expiring?
