It's for cystitis/bladder infections. I just finished the dosage today. Atleast this is why I hav ciprofloxacin 500mg! Hope his helped.

My lower back and tummy below the belly button have a nawghing pain and I've been up during the night several times during to pee, then it dawned on me.....uhhhh-ohhhh, I bet it's a bladder infection!!! now that I think of it, that's exactly what it feels like. Once you've had it, you can always guess what that pain means. My question is, I found some older prescriptions in the cabinet and am pretty sure, but not positive what it's for. It's CIPROFLOXACIN HCL 500 MG. is this what it is most likely for????

I was just reviewing a drug article on Ciprofloxacin stating it is in fact used to treat bacterial infections.
Ciprofloxacin is limited to the treatment of proven bacterial infections such as:
- Urinary tract infections
- Acute uncomplicated cystitis in females
- Chronic bacterial prostatitis
- Lower respiratory tract infections
- Acute sinusitis
- Skin and skin structure infections
- Bone and joint infections
- Infectious diarrhea
- Typhoid fever (enteric fever)

Looks like kidney stones symptoms... I had that before, and it occurs during the night and when I pee.. Pain extends to the lower back... Go and see a Urologist to see where the stones are positioned now, anywhere between yr kidneys and bladder... And yes , it's painful..and what u have in your cabinet certainly does not work... Temporarily I used Diflam 50 mg but not in an empty stomach!

Yep had the same problem and took 500mg 2Xdaily avoiding Antacids. Takes a week or two but it helps the prostrate calm down and reduces urinating frequently at night. Oh you should not drink while taking. Good Luck.
