What Medications Can Cause A False Positive For Methamphetamine (Page 19)

Can certain over the counter medications or prescription medications cause a false positive for Methamphetamine in a blood test?

Being that she is on Phentermine, yes she can get a false positive for meth. Phentermine is a type of Amphetamine.

I failed a drug test at probation for methamphetamine when i was taking ranitidine, so i took a hair follicle test and passed it.

I use vicks inhaler regularly because a deviated septum and urine test come back positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine. .I also take adderrall 60 mg daily..Why's thus keep gapping in lab results ?

Make sure its the kind that you have to show I'd. It's locked up behind the pharmacy counter. Dont just grab one off the shelf...it will not work. Good luck

I was told that there is no test for "Methamphetamine". The only test available is an Amphetamine test. So, if someone tests positive for amphetamines does that mean it is positive for Methamphetamine? This person was taking Phentermine and not following the prescription guidelines; she finished a 30 count bottle in about 2 weeks. Would that affect the results?

I recently went for a drug screen and tested positive for methamphetamine. I don't use that drug. I'm 25 weeks preggo and I have been taking meds for my cold (dimatapp Vick inhaler). I'm also on high blood pressure pills as well as tylenol with codeine. How is it possible?

I take simvastatin daily but here lately I have been taking sudafed,nyquil and afrin nasal spray, was told today that I felled a mouth swab for meth, can these cause a false positive?

This is just crazy, the same thing just happened to me two days ago. I go to pain management for chronic back and neck pain. Fentanyl 50mg and oxycodone 5mg. Been taking both for about 9 years. And It's the same for me, I have never even seen methamphetamine let alone tried it. But my last urine test came back positive for methamphetamine. How?!? There is no way because I can’t stand the people on it where I live and never have I physically seen it. So how is this possible? I never knew sudafed was in methamphetamine until today. And I took sudafed two days before my test. My doctor never asked if I might have taken something like that or anything. He just accused me of doing methamphetamine. So now I guess I go back in ten days for a meeting. Idk why, I really don’t want to be accused of something I don’t do but with the problems with fentanyl these days I’ll never get it back anywhere else. So I’m going to have to go back. It’s like they're the big drug dealers now. And we gotta do what they say.

I had a mouth swab test and the lab where they sent it left me a message to call them back asp, but can't till Monday. First of all that can't be good and I take pain medication and sleeping medication. Could anything like that show as methamphetamine?

Gabapentin and cybalta have very moderate drug interaction they say lower dosage on gabapentin

I had gastric bypass surgery approx 14 years ago and bc of complications with that I take large amounts of Zantac, (sometimes upwards of 1200mg daily). The first time I had a false positive was about ten yrs ago. The MRO, I think that's what they call them, told me that my gcms test came back 79% positive for d isomer methamphetamine. I've never even seen methamphetamine in real life, only on TV. I did pay for a hair follicle test to prove that I was innocent, but did still lose my job. There now is research saying gcms testing is no longer the gold standard bc of the difficulty of actually understanding of the results in reference to methamphetamine. Obviously above my head, but it's devastating that this isn't well known and or talked about in medical journals. You can actually call Zantac and they will admit it to u, but will not release paperwork verifying it, bc the "information is for medical professionals, not the general public" so anyone who needs proof, call them and record the call.

Its probably the zantac from what I've read. I am not sure why but evidently something in it reduces to a methamphetamines base.

I just failed a UDS for methamphetamine & amphetamine from using benzedrex, when I didn't use anything else at all. Just the benzedrex.

I take the same acid reducer and have never tested positive in the National Guard or at work for fed ex. I do take lexapro and have tested positive for it, but it's prescribed.

Yes it can make you test positive however if you let testing facility know you took it then may be good but I think it only test positive for alcohol
