Glimer (Glimepiride) is used along with diet and exercise, and sometimes with other medications, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Glimepiride lowers blood sugar by causing the pancreas to produce insulin (a natural substance that is needed to break down sugar in the body) and helping the body use insulin efficiently. This medication will only help lower blood sugar in people whose bodies produce insulin naturally. Glimepiride is not used to treat type 1 diabetes (condition in which the body does not produce insulin and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood) or diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious condition that may occur if high blood sugar is not treated).

NOTE: If you have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, there is scientific evidence that proves a low fat raw vegan diet can in-fact reverse and cure this disease. Definitely worth researching if this is something you have.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please post back and I will be happy to assist you.

I have reduced my use of glimer from 6 mg to 1 mg (0.5 in the morning and 0.5 eve) in just 21 days apart from no longer needing Onglyzya 5mg, 3 tablets of Glycomet 850 mg and two tablets of Glucobay 25 mg.

All gone in 21 days.

Switched to a low fat vegan diet on 1st Sept with only raw vegan ( sprouts) till 12 noon and veg and fruit smoothies first thing in the morning. My weight reduced from 99 kgs to 95 in these 21 days. Still overweight by 13 kgs and if I lose 13 KGs, I will then be on a 25 BMI. (right now on 29).

The vegan diet idea was introduced to me by Dr Pramod tripathi, a remarkable doctor and human being in Pune.

I read your post David where you talk of "raw" vegan diet as a cure for diabetes. Is "raw" the answer? Are there any links of research that you may have? Grateful if you could share.

Ranjit J.
