My husband has suddenly become afraid of taking dialysis after 6 yrs of going through with it. He was recommended to see a psychiatrist who recommended Etirest 0.5 mg.. 1tablet in the morning and 1/2 at nights. And, 45 minutes before dialysis 1 tablet. He started the before dialysis tablet only yesterday and the whole of today he is drowsy. Etirest tablet is a very small white tablet. Please advise if the dosage is right.

Hi Yvonne,

Etirest is reported to contain the active ingredient Etizolam, which is indicated for short-term treatment of anxiety or panic attacks. From what I understand, this medication is pretty strong, with one tablet being the equivalent of 10 mg of Valium. The drowsiness definitely makes sense with a medication such as this one. If I am not mistaken, Etirest should not be taken over a long period of time, because it may result in benzodiazepine withdrawals or other side effects. Definitely monitor how he feels, and it is important to check back with the prescribing physician as time goes on. I hope this information has helped!
