Watson 853 - Is It Norco 10/325?
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I got a prescription for generic norco and it has watson 853 imprinted on it. I was wondering if I am getting the correct medication or if I am being ripped off at this pharmacy? It is yellow.

Can you still get Watson 853 or are they discontinued?

Sorry to hear about your dog's teeth being pulled. I sure hope he's gotten around to feeling better since the timing of your post back in October.

The Watson 853 contains a combination of Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone and therefore can't necessarily be categorized into a single drug class. Not to mention, Acetaminophen isn't a NSAID. It's actually classified as an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer).

As far as how much to give your dog, that is generally determined by a veterinarian based on the weight of your dog, severity of pain and other underlying factors at the vet's discretion.

Please post back if you have any updates to share!

Why do we have to settle for Amneals besides Watsons. Why did Watson suddenly become unavailable? Is it because they were better or a stigma applied to them? I don't like the idea of being forced to get Amneals for the same price as Watson, which I considered better, even though you say the Amneal 10-325 is the same as the Watson 10-325. What's the real truth behind the change? Maybe I need something more specifically prescribed by my doctor, like brand name, or something else different with more strength?

I recently got switched to the Watson 853 & it doesn't work. I had some of my other 367 left over, took them and got the relief I have been used to. I have been on the 367 for a year and noticed the ineffectiveness of the 853 immediately. That's what led me to this site, to see if I was just imagining this but as it turns out other people have had the same issue.

My dog had 6 teeth pulled and I was going to give him a piece of a Watson 853, but I didn't know if it was considered an NSAID because of the Tylenol? I also wasn't sure how much to give him? He weighs 13lbs.

People say it's not as strong as the white generics. Imprint 176. As a long time patient, I notice nothing different at all.

I have a white oblong pill with Watson on it and the # 3. There are supposed to be other digits (e.g. Watson 853) but it's the only # I can see. I was prescribed hydrocodone but had to stop because of my liver. I was then put on oxycodone to break in half, so I found this one and am not sure if it's the right pill.

I remember a time when Norco first went generic and they were completely identical except for the imprint. They were both made by Watson and the brand had a Norco imprint on it and the generic had a Watson 853 imprint. Both were yellow at time and I had good insurance were brand were only $20 so I always opted for the brand. But in any case, they were EXACTLY the same med, made at the same plant just different imprints. That later about a year and then due to change of ins I started getting generics.

Well I have been taking Norco for 15yrs now and consider myself rather educated as to what exactly has happened to this great med over the years. Well originally there was Norco, which was manufactured by Watson. At that time about 2001ish there was Norco and about 2003 it came off of patent, meaning that other manufacturers could make and sell the same med. There were some differences such as the binders and the amount of active ingredient being within 20% of the original brand.

Well the first company to make the generic and funny enough that company was Watson. It was pretty much identical in every way to the Brand except the Brand was yellow and said Norco and the generic was also the identical color but just had a different imprint of Watson 853 but also yellow. Well those YELLOW generics are long gone since the last time those were made was 2012 and were either sold or shelf life expired. Well these were around with many other combinations of 10mg hydrocodone (10/500 ad 10/650 & 10/750 being the most popular). There were initially not as many companies making generics at this until 2011, when the FDA told all the Manufacturers that they could not exceed 325 of Tylenol as they said that people were ingesting too much acetaminophen (Tylenol) as it caused liver damaged. Well it was at this time when Watson stopped making the yellow generics (Watson 853) and also about the time when we started seeing many other manufacturers getting into the hydrocodone generic manufacturing due to the fact that there would be a greater demand of 10/325 due to the elimination of the previous 10/500, 10/650, and 10/750. Here is a list of the most popular manufacturers that make the hydro 10/325.

These include, with the first being Amneal manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals (IP 110), Maybe Pharma (176), Tris Pharma, One (G 037), Mallinkrodt (M367),Rhodes Pharmaceuticals, Inc (RP HPp110), Par Endo Pharmaceuticals among others. Well the all differ in some way when it comes to fillers or the amount of active ingredient which I certainly there most important thing. In any case, out of all the crap that is out there I'd have to go with Watson (Watson 853 white) or Endo (V 3610).

I recently got a script for norcos and on one side it has a V and on the other side is 3609. I went online and can not find this pill anywhere that will confirm that it is a norco. Has anyone received these? I got them from walmart: v/3609

Please let us know what you find? I suspect they are nothing more than a little synthetic opiate with LOTS of acetaminophen; which has been making us sick. Nice going, pathetic, high priced drug companies!

Did you ever find out the compound of the Norco 539 ?

Is this a new formula or just a bad batch? I have had ups and downs with the new Watson but what you describe is the exact pill I received this month and is like taking nothing. I am trying to figure out what happened to make this particular prescription so horrible and am petrified to get them again next month.

Do you know the definition of "generic"? You just contradicted your first statement with the many more following it..

Tramadol may work for someone who has a very low tolerance to pain meds. I've taken twice the dose with no relief. I'd just soon drink the water and leave the pill sitting there. It would have the identical effect. As far as oxy I don't know if that was a typo but roxycotin is only 30 mg of oxycodone and they are stout. Percocet/oxy start at 7.5 mg.

Check to see if you can easily break it in half with ur hand, if easy to break and kinda crumble they are no good at all
