Re: Meenal (# 986) Expand Referenced Message

My problem is also a droopy eyelid. Oxymetazoline is the only ingredient in eye drops I’ve found that opens my eye. If anyone finds something else please let me know.

Dear Traci, How was your experience with LUMIFY? Do let us know. Thank you.

Hello everyone!

Well, I've been going to Walmart for approx. 1 month, looking for my B+L Maximum Redness Relief eye drops. This is the second time I've noticed that they have disappeared from Walmart's shelves for weeks. I figured they were a popular choice for many people after Visine LR was discontinued. The last time I couldn't find them at Walmart, I thought surely they had been discontinued, but Walmart finally restocked them. This time, however, I started feeling like they are not coming back. I also looked for them at Albertsons and was willing to pay the higher price, but Albertsons didn't have them either.

Soooo, I came home and did a search online and, lo and behold, the B+L Maximum Redness Relief eye drops are now on Ebay and selling for high prices. Must be discontinued when products go to Ebay.

I told my dear friend this afternoon that there has to be something else on the market to replace Maximum Redness Relief drops. I guess the new B+L Lumify eye drops are it.

I don't like the high price, of course, but I'm willing to pay it if Lumify works well.

I read somewhere that these new B+L eye drops aren't supposed to be used daily. Anyone know if that is true? I definitely want something that is safe for daily use.

Thanks all.

So I did try out the Lumify. I thought it worked great. My eyes were definitely white! I had gone to a function outdoors and it was super hot out, so due to the heat, I was uncomfortable, but my eyes were clear for the majority of the time. Sometimes when I’m not 100% (like this day due to heat) my eyes get redder than normal. I’m happy to find Lumify —I’ll use it sparingly tho.

Good to hear that, Traci! My eyes also get redder in the heat. I'm out west in a desert state and it's been hotter than fish grease!

The bottle the Lumify comes in looks tiny in online photos. Ugh!

You know, even though instructions on eye drops always said use 1 or 2 drops per eye, I never did that. I let my eyes swim in the solution--more like 4 drops. I just like the way eye drops make my eyes feel--even on days when they aren't red. You wake up from sleep and douse your your eyes in drops and they feel refreshed and alive. I have used oxymetazoline eye drops every single day for so many years now... gosh, going back to when I was a teen.

If the Lumify bottle is small, I'll have to get some other mild, cheaper (maybe also lubricating) eye drops to use with them. Just so I can use more drops in my eyes. Some people have said that Lumify makes their eyes dry and that's an effect also I don't want.

My goodness. I'm sitting here, trying to do my little research to find a second eye drop that I can use with Lumify... if I have to purchase it. What I hate about Lumify is the cost. Ten or eleven bucks for eye drops is a lot for me at this time. I'm just barely getting by with the help of a family member. Every penny is precious. I am truly in the poorhouse.

I've liked the Bausch + Lomb brand, so I looked up Opcon-A eye drops and saw a 2-pack on Ebay for like $70. I'm wondering if B+L is doing away with their other eye drops, which, in turn, will force us to purchase Lumify.

I just hope Visine and other companies "get on the ball" and develop other good eye drops that don't cost so much.

I have to get something this week. I still have about a quarter bottle of B+L's "Redness" eye drops and only a few drops left of their "Maximum Redness" eye drops. I'll still look for them in the stores. I'm hoping I'm wrong again and that Walmart is just being super slow to restock them.

I've been usiing Lumify for about a month and love it!! Much better than B & L. keeps my eyes white for a good 6-8 hours and if I use it again in the same day, just as white. Thank goodness for a new eye drop!

Well, I bought some Lumify eye drops this past Thursday at Walmart. I haven't used them yet. One thing I know after looking at them... my eyes certainly won't be "swimming" in these drops. The container is SO dinky. Ugh! I mean, I knew it looked small online, but this seems ridiculously small, even though you only use 1 drop.

I looked for my regular B+L eye drops, but the shelves for them were still empty. In their place was a tag that read, "Temporarily out of stock."

My guess is that B+L may be waiting to see how Lumify catches on and if enough people are willing to pay at least $12 for them.

I certainly hope B+L keeps their Maximum Redness Relief eye drops. Visine and Clear Eyes still carry multiple "useless" eye drops, so I hope B+L will continue to give consumers at least one other somewhat decent option besides Lumify.

My preference would be to use the Maximum Redness Relief drops for most days and also Lumify very sparingly. These Lumify drops are like a precious gem to me because although they appear to work, the container is tiny and they are more expensive.

It has been a while, but I think I will write another letter to B+L, asking them to please keep their Maximum Redness Relief eye drops on the market.

I used my Lumify eye drops for the first time today. It's almost uncanny how quickly my eyes brightened. When I looked at them, it brought back the good ol memories of Visine LR. I used 1 drop in each eye like a good girl. With Visine, sometimes I used to feel little "twitches" in my eyes... nothing uncomfortable or irritating. I imagined it was the blood vessels constricting. Anyway, with Lumify, I didn't notice that feeling at all. My eyes also did not experience any dryness. However, prior to using Lumify, I had already used my B+L "redness" drops earlier this morning.

Today I went to Walmart, looking for B+L's Maximum Redness Relief drops. Still gone. I still wanted another eye drop, especially for when I'm hanging around the house. I saw one last carton of Rohto Cooling Eye Drops. I bought them because they contain 0.03% of Naphazoline (like the Maximum Redness drops.)

All the other eye drops on the shelves seem so pitiful. What is the point, you know? They're just sitting there, waiting for a desperate soul who doesn't know any better. But judging by how many Visine and Clear Eyes drops are stocked, it seems most people know they are lousy.

Lumify has side effects like itching and a strange feeling in and around your eyes. It also changed my vision and made it worse. I do not recommend it. Nothing like Allergex if you can find it.

Jhon,

Do you have any eye issues? If not, it could be what is causing those reactions. Thruthfully, I didn't even feel the Lumify working in my eyes in any way.

I'm hoping the folks reading and posting here are getting their eyes examined.

I am past due for an eye exam. My last one was 5 years ago. I can't believe the time flew by so quickly. Anyway, in 2013 my eyes were completely healthy after using oxymetazoline drops daily for most of my life. I had never had my eyes examined before 2013. I only did it because I noticed my eyesight was beginning to fade.

Luckily my exam revealed no signs of disease, high blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. The films of my eyes were completely clear. I now have to wear reading glasses, but the doc said it was normal for my aging eyes.

Oops, my mistake. I meant that if you DO have some eye issues, it could be what is causing the negative reactions to Lumify, such as itching, strange sensations in the eyes, worsening vision, etc.

B+L's "Redness" and "Maximum Redness" eye drops were on the shelf at Walmart when I went this morning. That's a relief for me.

Just thinking... it would be nice to have Lumify in a clearer bottle. It's hard to tell when you will be running low. When you shake the tiny bottle, it already feels like there is hardly any fluid in it. I held it up to light, and I still couldn't see anything.

Lumify is amazing for me. Since they discontinued LR I have used Allergex. It was ok but not as good as LR. Lumify works fast and does not feel as harsh on my eye. I feel like the irritation around my eyelids has lessened since using it. The larger bottle is worth the few extra bucks and lasts a long time, I think they said there are 225 drops in the bottle.

I used my Rohto (max strength redness relief) "cooling eye drops" for the first time yesterday. I REALLY like how they feel in my eyes and they cleared them pretty well (they claim 8 hrs of soothing). They also appear to be selling out. However, I still bought a 2-pack of B+L maximum redness eye drops.

I'm anxious to see what comes next from Visine since Lumify came out and is so effective.

I guess all of us no longer have red eyes since Lumify arrived. I've even received emails from beauty magazines, etc who have tested and reported on its great results. So I think the problem must be solved.

I'm using Lumify, B+L Maximum Redness and Rohto Cooling eye drops. Even though Lumify works with 1 drop in each eye, I still like to use cheaper eye drops to basically rinse my eyes first thing in the morning. What a difference clear eyes make in one's appearance.

I hope we never have a problem like this again.

I think it is much more difficult for companies to thrive because there is so much more out there (via Internet shopping) to choose from. It wasn't like that many years ago. And some larger companies are now faced with tremendous competition.

Re: Rhonda (# 1016) Expand Referenced Message

Hi, am I the only one who feels Lumify does NOTHING for my eyes? I tried it with great expectations, but my eyelids remain droopy as ever. Visine LR used to widen my eyes beautifully. I suffer from PTOSIS (Droopy Eyelids - due to long use of Hard Contact lenses, since other varieties of contact lenses didn’t suit me). Hence I will need to continue with: ALLERGEX, CENDO ASTENHOF & to a certain extent - BAUSCH & LOMB maximum redness reliever.

Hi Meenal,

I think what you're missing is the decongestant action that L.R. provided. What I find very effective is using a combination of Bausch & Lomb Maximum Redness Eye Relief and Lumify. You may want to give it a shot. I really like both drops.

I also noticed Oxymetazoline appears to be discontinued in nasal sprays. I was in the grocery store and realized the brand names listed a different ingredient (can't remember what) and the store generic brand containing Oxymetazoline was at a "close-out" price. I wonder if this whole thing is part of an FDA recommendation/demand. Anyhoo...

To Meenal,

I'm really sorry that happened to your eyelids and that Lumify isn't the answer for you.

It sure would be nice if oxymetazoline drops could come back somehow, but I'm not hopeful. I still think plenty of us would go back to oxymetazoline drops. If all I had was Lumify right now, I'd be unhappy. Lumify works for me, but it can't give me that refreshing feeling. I put them into my eyes and can't feel a thing.

I don't remember ever seeing Rohto eye drops before now. As desperate as I was after Visine LR disappeared, I feel certain I would have found them in the stores. On the carton it says they are the "#1 Global OTC Eye Care Brand." They come in a neat, little, flat, clear plastic bottle. So you can easily see how much you have left. The top twists off in a weird sorta way.

Some folks here who like the B+L Max Redness eye drops might care to give Rohto a try.
