Vintage Pharmaceuticals

Updated

I have been prescribed 1mg xanax x3 po tid prn for the past 14 yrs. I have always taken the generic form, but, this last refill is a generic form that I have never seen before; it's dark blue, scored, with the inscription 2089 V. As I understand, this generic is manufactured by Vintage pharmaceuticals. I am wondering how well 'known' this company is in regards to the quality of their medications. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Vintage Pharmaceuticals, formerly known as Qualitest, has been manufacturing medications since 1983 and all of their products for sale in the U.S. are FDA approved.

We've not had a lot of complaints about their products, unlike some other companies that we get frequent complaints about.

The tablet you have does contain 1mg of Alprazolam, the active ingredient in Xanax.

Side effects may include: irritability, nausea, drowsiness and headache.

Thank you, Verwon. I'm very cautious concerning medications that I have never taken nor seen before; specifically generic medications. There seems to be an increasingly competitive market in this area. This is somewhat unnerving to me due to the cost effectiveness verses the efficacy of any given drug. I don't want to sacrifice quality in order to save a few dollars. My primary concern has to do with the lack of information concerning Vintage Pharmaceuticals. The information that is available online appears to have more negative feedbacks from users. My question is; why does Vintage not update consumers regarding such information as pill indentification? In not doing so, the more discerning consumer, like myself, is more apt to request the more commonly used generic from a more recognizeable company. Lack of information leads to lack of trust, in my opinion. And, lack of trust leads to loss of revenues.

Lisa, to be honest, the company can still get a huge market share, without ever bothering to educate consumers. The reason for this is because the people like us are very rare. Most people don't pay any attention to who manufactured their medications. They simply take whatever their pharmacy gives them and couldn't tell you the markings on the tablets or who made them.

Most pharmacies carry the generic, for any given drug, from just one company, so their customers don't have the option of requesting one made by someone else.

Even the larger pharmacy chains might have a total of 2 or 3 customers, out of thousands, that pay attention to such details, so if those 2 or 3 want the product manufactured by a different company, they aren't going to make a difference to anyone's bottom line.

From my personal experience, I can tell you that I have always found medications manufactured by Vintage to be good quality and effective. However, I will also state that the last time I used them was when I was living in Pennsylvania and was on pain management, which was several years ago. So, things may have changed since then.

One company whose products I did not like and who we have had a lot of complaints about on here is Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, so I advise caution if you ever get a prescription for their medications. This is just going by my personal opinion and what I've heard from other people, though, I have no actual proof that there is anything wrong with their products.

I have been taking vintage generic brand ms contin now for two months. I have had no pain relief at all . I might as well be taking chalk pills. I know that they were under investigation by the F.D.A. a few years ago I can't find much information about the results. I did hear they were bought by another company. So why am I still getting pills with the name Vintage on them. Maybe they are getting rid of old stock that doesn't work anymore. I am angry about the DEA getting into the pain killer's. I think they are making the pharmaceutical companies put out pills that do not work I have had the same results with norco is anyone else getting these results? Thanks
