Stopping Viibryd: From 40mg I tapered down to 7 days of 20mg followed by 7 days of 10mg. The biggest side effect I felt was mostly irritability and anxiety. I was able to go into work but tried to keep to myself. I felt sick. Didn't want to socialize. When I finally stopped the med completely it was pretty bad. I'm on day 6 now. Have been unable to work, drive or leave my house ... for fear of ending up in jail or hospital from flipping out. I feel a constant anger and want to break things, and have yelled at the top of my lungs to two people on the phone. I feel disoriented, dizzy, itchy, and confused (itchiness was actually nothing new for me). I'm confined to my house until further notice. Very unpleasant! ## Hi gistell, Sorry to hear about your situation with Viibryd. Th...

I have been on Viibryd 40 mg almost since the first day it came out and was one of the lab rats when it was in clinical trials. I loved it because it made me feel normal. I have noticed though for about 18 months I have issues with leg swelling, water retention and significant abdominal bloat that won't go away. I am going to try going down to 20 mg. Any one else have these issues? Did they get better with a reduced dose? I hate to go off because I feel awake and not experiencing almost nonfunctional exhaustion with terrible allergies and weird aches and pains I have without it. No other med besides Viibryd has ever really helped. Any ideas? ## Hello, Susan! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having. Is this the only medication that you're on? Ho...

I am starting to get a little nervous with all the negative feedback in this forum. I was on Cymbalta for a couple of years, but when my doctor increased the dosage I started gaining a lot of weight. He decided to put me on Viibryd. I just finished my trial pack and feel like I have much more energy and can get up earlier in the morning. I feel more focused on things and I feel like my libido is finally working again. The only thing that has happened negatively is the last two days I have been under a lot of stress and have been crying. But I don’t quite know if it is the medication because I may have just had a couple of bad days. I just increased to 40mg today. I am hoping to feel even better. I have not been as hungry since I started the medication so I was surpris...

I was wondering if any of you out there have come off of an SSRI and had severe panic attacks that lasted a month or longer. I am in such distress. I wasn't taking any sort of medication a few years ago and was fine. I almost went through a break-up last summer, got super depressed and my primary care physician started me on Viibryd. At first, it worked great, I felt happy and alive and things smoothed over with the boyfriend. Once he bumped me up to 40 mg however this past November I started to notice I was having panic attacks every now and then. I decided I wanted to get off of it and he cut me down to 20mg for a week, then 10 mg for a week and then nothing. The more I got off of Viibryd, the more panic attacks I would have. I would especially get them while driving. I would get ...

What if any side effects are people experiencing on viibryd ## Taking Viibryd (vilazodone) at a dose of 40 mg per day is considered to be well tolerated and reported adverse effects ranged from mild to moderate in intensity; side effects included diarrhea, nausea, and somnolence. Other than that, I haven't located any other side effect information on this drug. You can view more details on Viibryd by following the link below: Please post back if you have any other general questions or concerns about this drug. ## I have noticed hair loss, been on it about 4 months now. ## been on vii almost 2 months. worse side effect is restless leg. if i get it taken early enough in the day, i don't notice it as much. if i take it noonish, then its really bad at bedtime. also didn't help t...

I am 29 and have been dealing with depression and anxiety since I was 15. I have been on and off everything and it seems to work for a few months and then I get no benefit from it even with increased doses. In 2008 I started passing out or becoming unresponsive for a few seconds up to 15 minutes. They told me I was having non epileptic seizures due to stress. It was a stressful time in my life. I saw a psy and went on cymbalta and things seemed to improve but they never went away. Then they thought it was migraine related and I went on topamax and things seemed to improve. I went off cymbalta and stayed on topamax and things were the same. Then I went off everything and had been doing well until a few months ago. I first noticed it while I was driving I felt like I was going to be hit o...

I want to have a few drinks this weekend and I was wondering how many days I should be off. ## Hello, Viiby! How are you? It would really be best to stay on your medication and forgo the alcohol. It tends to exacerbate the side effects, so it could make you more dizzy, drowsy and nauseous than usual. Even if you stop taking it, you're likely going to experience some withdrawal effects, which will probably also be worsened by the alcohol. If your doctor approves of your imbibing, then please make sure that you aren't driving. Viibryd has a half-life of 24 to 25 hours and it takes 5 to 6 half-lives to be fully processed out of your body, so you'd be looking at needing a break of at least 5 to 6 days, but as I said, that doesn't do away with the possible withdrawal effects....

I have been taking Viibryd for a few of months. I started with the sample pack, and have been taking 40 mg. for the past 2 months. The medication works well for me and I've never had a problem. Last night I took 2 Midol at the same time as the Viibryd and I had the WORST panic attack I've ever had. My pulse was over 140, and luckily I was able to calm myself down after a couple of hours and didn't have to go to the hospital. Has anything like this ever happened to anyone else with an over the counter medicine? I have never taken anything at the exact same time as the Viibryd before, and I think that was the issue. Thanks in advance. ## Hi Kelsie, I was going to check whether or not there are any drug interactions or side effects that might explain the panic attack, but wasn...

I am on 40 mg of viibryd. I am experiencing extreme memory loss. If i switch to another antidepressiant will the memory come back ## If it was caused by the Viibryd, then yes, it may come back if you stop taking it and try something else. Learn more Viibryd details here. I've suffered something similar from medications in the past and my memory has always returned to normal, after I stopped taking them....of course I'll never try them again, because that's quite an uneasy occurrence to deal with. I'd suggest talking to your doctor as soon as you can, that way they can determine if it's due to the medication and help you decide the appropriate course of action. Have you tried any other antidepressants? ## I also have completely lost my memory of Viibryd. I am forgetti...

I was taking viibryd at night, but I couldn't sleep. Started taking it in the morning a few days ago. I'm sleeping fine, but today I fell asleep in the afternoon and couldn't wake up. My psych doc thinks it's helping me. I think he's right, but what can I do? The insomnia had some scary effects on my mental health, but how can I enjoy my life if I can't stay awake? ## How long have you been taking it? Typically the side effects wear off, once your body gets used to the medication, but that can take about 6 to 8 weeks. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, and diarrhea. Ref: Viibryd ## I take it at night. If I take it in the morning I'll have terrible nightmares that night because the meds are wearing off. As it is now, if I st...

After discontinuing Viibryd, has anyone noticed their hair NOT becoming thick again? I've been on 60 mg for about 8 months. My hair is now falling out by the handfuls.. I have an appointment to see my dr. next week but I'm terrified my hair won't grow back! Not to sound self centered or shallow but I adore my hair! Had I of known this was a side effect I'd never agreed to try this medication. I'm terrified, as I've already stated, but I am also angry that this information isn't given by drug reps who push these meds! I pay 277$ a month for this RX & now have to worry about withdrawals, my hair possibly not growing back & adjusting to a new medication. Any replies are welcome & will be appreciated! ## Hello, Amanda! How are you? I'm very sorry ...

I was on viibryd for a year and a half. Soon after starting the medication (40 mg) I started having aches and pains in my joints but I didn't think anything of it because I had recently had ankle surgery and attributed some of the discomfort from that. As the pain in my joints spread I became more concerned as I have Crohn's disease and there is arthritis that is related to Crohn's disease. So as the pain and inflammation increased I went to see my GI DR. and he felt it was Crohn's Arthritis and started me on Humira. Well this didn't help and the joint pain and inflammation continued to progressively get worse. So I was referred by my primary to a Rheumotologist and was started on heavy doses of Prednisone still with the diagnosis of Crohn's arthritis. This bring...

I starting taking viibryd after having no luck on lexapro, paxil, celexa, effexor, toprol, wellbutrin etc etc. Started on 10mg starter pack and went up to 40 fairly quickly. Family noticed that I was much more agitated and crying all the time...also have frequent suicidal thoughts...which aren't typical. I told both the therapist and psyc about this. Now both think i should try a tricyclic drug Pamelor. Has anyone tried this after no luck w/ the common SSRI's. Specifically interested in if I can start on the Pamelor while still weening off V. I'm on 15mg now b/c i had moderate dizziness going from 20mg V straight to 10mg. My body seems very sensitive to weening. I have to do it by 5mg increments since I have anxiety the dizziness makes my anxiety/ panic worse. Oh btw, I also...

I have been on Viibryd since Nov 1 2011. I began with the started pack (10mg/7 days , 20mg 7days then 40 mg). After being on it for 2 days my anxiety was TERRIBLE on the 40mg. I am now on 20mg and feeling pretty damn good...better than I have in years. Psychiatrist has agreed to keep me on 20mg and we will re-evaluate later. My question is: are any of you on 20mg and staying there? If so, what are the pros and cons? How are you feeling...does it feel like that dose is enough? ## The dose that works well can vary from person to person and should be individualized, just as your doctor has agreed to do. It also means you will have another dose to go up to later, if/when your body builds up a tolerance to this one. We have a couple of active threads involving people that are using Viibryd, ...

I originally got on the web today to research how to loose weight gained from medication. I have been on Viibryd for 6 months for Major Depressive disorder. I currently take 40 mg. It should be noted taking Viibryd has changed me from a size 0 to size 6. 20lbs. My appetite at times especially in the evening is RAVENOUS. I am embarrassed by how much I can eat and not be full. I have been nonchalant about a few pounds here and there but it devestated me yesterday when i caught a glimpse of CELLULITE on my backside. Nothing else has changed in my medicines or routine. I have always been slim. I have compassion for any who have been trying to figure out if Viibryd is causing their body to change physically. I also will comment on other side effects in another post. My memory is compromised ...

After reading the post sleep paralysis w hallucinations I felt omgosh Iam not the only one, also scared to be on this med anymore. I have been on viibryd for four months now. After talking to my doc about how I have been feeling and feeling like "I just can't handle things at times" and crying while talking with her. She decided to put me on viibryd, with the starter pack. I am at 20 mg which I take at night. I have children to take care of and can't afford to b sleepy n the day. When I first started this med. I did not tell my husband because I wanted to see if he will notice a change in me. After being on it for three weeks ( which it took two days for me to see a difference) I told him. We both could see I was happier calmer. Handled things better and my libido was be...

Anyone had any experience with Viibryd yet? My doc just gave it to me today. Just wondering... ## I just started Viibryd yesterday (7/19/11) as well. I haven't been able to find any consumer reviews for this medication yet so I guess I'll keep looking... Good luck to you! ## Thanks for posting. I'll keep digging around as well. If I find anything, I'll let you know. ## Below is one website that has been recommended...which I can't get to from work. But, there are several places where people are talking about it. There is another thread here that I started a few days ago also... I am on my I think 5th or 6th day...so far doing fine...a little dizzy at first..anyway...I typed all that in the other thread...lol.. click here to view the other thread ## Unfortunately, sin...

Do I need to wean off Viibryd if I only took for 2 weeks? My anxiety is through the roof and I'd rather just go back to Paxil and deal with the weight gain. Can I just switch back without issues or do I need to taper down the 20 mg of Viibryd like when I started it? ## I need to know the same thing been on Viibryd 3 weeks Panic is intense can’t handle it I think I felt better on paxil ## Our bodies all are subject to respond differently to quitting cold-turkey or tapering off something like Viibryd 2-3 weeks into treatment. However, working closely with your prescribing doctor on a tapering plan is probably the safest method for quitting, in my own humble opinion, especially if you don't know whether it's deemed necessary or not and are left undecided on a specific app...

This is a warning to you all... A little bit about me first: I'm 6'3" and only 130 pounds. Naturally I am very susceptible to side effects of any drug. I also didn't have my first taste of alcohol until October 2011, which is when I turned 23. Throughout November 2011 I took Cymbalta. I also drank occasionally, but not often and not much. Cymbalta gave me a lot side effects such as an upset stomach, dizzyness, inability to sleep, etc. About mid-December I switched to Prozac, and took it through February. Throughout this time I drank a lot. Very often, and sometimes I'd get incredibly drunk, but I didn't have any bad experiences with mixing Prozac and alcohol. At the beginning of March 2012 I started taking Viibryd because Prozac wasn't giving me the results I...

I have been on cymbalta 2 years and ristiq 2 years prior and they were terrible to get off i notice that if i am 2 hours late for viibryd i have a night of hell with the nightmares. Does anyone else?
