Viibryd - Concerned About Side Effects

I have been on SSRIs for panic disorder for years and was recently switched from Lexapro 10mg to Viibryd 10mg. I have generally tolerated SSRIs pretty well aside from decreased libido and constant drowsiness. SNRIs have always worsened my anxiety. My doctor decided to try Viibryd because it is somewhat different from regular SSRIs and he thought it might work better for me.

Anyway, I am on day 3 of the Viibryd and am having some side effects including increased heart rate with some "skips", trouble falling asleep, dizziness, muscle stiffness, and a little bit of increased anxiety at times. I also have a prescription for Klonopin which helps me get through some of these effects. I have not had any of the infamous nightmares or sleep paralysis episodes so far.

Has anyone had any of the side effects that I mentioned? If so, how long did they take to go away, if they ever did? The only one that concerns me is the elevated heart rate and palpitations, since that can sometimes set off an anxiety attack for me. If these will be temporary, I would like to push through them because the Viibryd seems to work pretty well other than what I had mentioned. I wake up with much more energy, have fewer side effects, and have more motivation than I did on the Lexapro or other SSRIs.

There's a good chance that the symptoms you're experiencing are actually a combination of withdrawing from the Lexapro and starting the Viibryd, but you should double check with your doctor to be certain.

However, the elevated heart rate and palpitations are well known withdrawal symptoms of SSRIs.

As to the other side effects, the posts I've seen have been about half and half, not everyone experiences them, but some do.

Are there any other questions or concerns?

Thank you. It's reassuring to hear they might just be withdrawal effects from Lexapro. I will check with my doctor.

Regarding the other side effects, do most people seem to get over them in a few days?
