I have been on Victoza for over 6 months. I am 8 pounds away from my first goal weight. Yes, I had a lot of weight to lose, but now only have a total of 58 pounds left to go! I had lost much of my weight before starting on Victoza but could not lose any more weight. I would maintain the weight that I had lost and could lose no further until taking Victoza. I posed questions to my Endocrinologist today. What is the end goal for my taking of Victoza? Can I eventually stop taking Metformin, Glybyride and Victoza at all one day? Will I be able to maintain my weight loss without Victoza one day? Here are the answers he gave me to me (only). Each person's situation may be different. He said that he is switching me to a new form of Metformin which is time-released and taken by pill only 1 ...

I have GERD, which is reflux disease and the Victoza seems to make it worse. I also have a sliding hiatal hernia. Does anyone else have this issue? ## It is really hard to say what is causing it, it could be your medical issues, or the medication. The FDA warns that other side effects from Victoza may possibly include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, and decreased appetite. Is this the only medication you take? What have you tried to treat the GERD? ## I had no GERD but did have a hiatal hernia and I had surgery for that at a later time.

I have been on Victoza for about 2 weeks now and I have broken out in hives/rash around my mid section. My body itches but I'm not sure if it's related to this or not. Anyone else experience this? ## It would be best to have this symptoms checked out by your doctor, according to FDA reports, there is a chance that it might be an allergic reaction. Have you been exposed to anything else new, such a a different detergent, soap, or perfume? Have you eaten any new foods? Are you on any other medications? ## I have been on Victoza for one month and all of the sudden I have multiple red welts that itch on my abdomen where I've been injecting. ## I took it for 5 years no hives and no other symptoms. There are risks associated with taking any medication, even those that have been on the market for decades. As to Victoza, it is approved by the FDA, so it's really not any more dangerous or concerning than any of the other medications out there. I have started on Victoza for the last couple of weeks, and have noticed the difference in my appetite etc which is actually very exciting for someone who has always overeaten. One question though, I've been told to take it in the morning by my GP, however my "problem" time for overeating is after 8pm at night. I've noticed may take it with their evening meal. Would this have a better effect on my late eavening eating? ## According to the manufacturer's website here it can be taken any time of day, but you should always double check with your doctor to be sure it is okay for you to do so. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Victoza as possibly including headache, heartburn, constipation, and indigestion. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am on medicare. After six months each year, the cost of Victoza throws me into the donut hole. I cannot afford the $1800 cost for Victoza for July through December so I do without, much to the dismay of my physician. (I start back taking it in January.) Are there any programs which might assist me for the last six months each year? Note: Novadisk has two patient assist programs, but for reasons I cannot fathom those of us on Medicare are specifically excluded from these programs. Together, my wife and I earn 340% of the federal poverty level for a family of 2. Thanks. ## Hello, Tim! How are you? I'm sorry about what you're dealing with. Have you spoken to your doctor about trying a different insulin that might be more affordable for you? It isn't safe to just go without fo...

Im a new user. What happens if the shot isn't placed in fat? I have lots of belly fat so I don't see how I could miss a fat spot. Is the stomach muscles below or above the fat? Can the shot go to deep with long needle or to shallow with short needle? Using long needle I get real sleepy and don't feel like eating. Using the short needle I feel normal. ## Have you checked your blood sugar at the times you feel sleepy, and don't want to eat? That would be the best thing to do, it would help you discover why you may be feeling that way. The typical side effects of Victoza may include injection site irritation, redness, bleeding, hypoglycemia, and headache. Why are you getting different length needles?

Since taking Victoza I feel like my stomach is digesting alcohol differently. I feel like I have a hangover the next day even if I just have a few drinks. ## Hello, Terry! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. Likely, it is due to 2 issues, the first issue, which I am not sure you are aware of is that alcohol can lower your blood sugar levels, thus when you drink, it could be making it drop too low. Have you ever checked your levels, after having a few drinks? The next issue is that alcohol can enhance the side effects of a medication, so you may experience more nausea, dizziness and drowsiness than usual, after having a few drinks, as reported by the FDA. So, there is probably good reasons why you feel that way. Most medications, when combined with alcohol, ca...
