I want to get off of venlafaxine HCL 150 mg 24 HR SA Tab. There is no score line. Can I cut it in half and take just half?

No, from what you've listed, this tablet cannot be cut in half, that could result in your receiving too much of the medication at once.

The SA stands for sustained action, which is just another way of designating it as a time released medication.

Learn more Venlafaxine details here.

The best thing to do would be to consult your doctor for a proper tapering schedule and to ask them to prescribe a lower dosage, or one that isn't time released to make it easier for you.

Are there any other questions or concerns?

I have been on Venlafaxine for over ten years. I know that I need assistance with my mood / mental state but would like to get off the meds, I don't care for the side effects. I would rather try either foods replacement or herbal supplements. I am sure this is feasible but would like your opinion.

Get away from it. I have been on anti depressants for 40 yrs. Paxil, Lexapro for the last year. I started taking venlafaxine in Oct 2013 to help me cope with the suicide of my son. I needed something to get me out of the house and back to work. It made my heart pound, my normally low blood pressure soar. I was a nervous wreck. I decided I'd had enough of anti depressants. Nov 2013 I was up to 150 mg and with the guidance of my Dr. and therapist I started the reduction in dosage. I have been through hell ever since. Constant electrical current going through every inch of my body. I cannot even THINK of moving any part of my body without a deafening swoosh in my head followed my extreme vertigo. This is before I even move. Lets see, 14 days and I cannot tolerate light, movement. Visual stimulation is intolerable. I watched a tv show today for 1 hour and it was exhausting. I cannot complete a sentence. The symptoms change daily and just when I think I have been through the worst part, something more painful and debilitating happens. I was determined and hopeful in the beginning. Now I worry that my brain will never re-learn to send it's own signals and get my body functional again.
