Uses And Effectiveness Of Fertilox Tablets

My husband and I wish to conceive a baby. We already have a 13 year old daughter. I was told about Fertilox by a friend and I just wanted to ask if this really does help with fertility?

Hi sunny. Best wishes with your health and hope that you are able to have another child. How were you able to obtain this supplement? It appears to be discontinued. According to the Amazon product page, this is manufactured by Jarrow Formulas, and is an over the counter supplement:

"Jarrow Formulas FertilOX is a potent combination of nutrients that support sperm antioxidant status and motility.

Pycnogenol is a potent antioxidant demonstrated to support healthy sperm motility. Also, Pycnogenol supports the production of endothelial Nitric Oxide (eNO).

Acetyl-L-Carnitine Arginate (ALCA) is a combination of Acetyl-L-Carnitine and L-arginine. Acetyl-L-Carnitine is an amino acid found in high concentrations in human heart, liver and sperm cells, where it participates in metabolizing fatty acids into energy by the mitochondria. Acetyl-L-Carnitine works synergistically with Co-Q10, an antioxidant and energy co-factor that is found in the inner membrane of the mitochondria.L-arginine is utilized to produce nitric oxide by the coenzyme tetrahydrobiopterin in endothelial tissues.

Methylselenocysteine is the predominantand most active form of selenium, an essential trace element necessary for the proper function of the antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase."

Because it is an OTC supplement, it has not been studied through clinical trials for its effectiveness. That being said, it may or may not be helpful for that purpose.

2 tablets is the recommended daily dose, and it contains:

Vitamin C 250 mg
Methylcobalamin (Methyl B-12) 100 mcg
Selenium (Methylselenocysteine) 100 mcg
Zinc 5 mg 33%
Pycnogenol (Pine Bark Extract) 25 mg
Coenzyme Q10 (Ubiquinone) 50 mg
Acetyl-L-Carnitine Arginate Dihydrochloride 1000 mg
providing Acetyl-L-Carnitine 450 mg
L-Arginine 387 mg
Taurine 250 mg
Lecithin 200 mg
Gama Tocopherol 50 mg
