Then why do some of the pills out of the Naproxen Sodium 220 mg say G17 and some say L368? Looking at the pills before taking them, one said G17 while another said L368. What is the purpose of this? To confuse those who are already confused or just to make people feel stupid??

No, the reason for this is because there are many companies that make a generic medication and they each will have a different logo/marking according to the company that makes it.

Over the counter drugs are not as regulated as prescription drugs, but if you read the regulations, you will find that even for prescription meds, the FDA requires that no matter what the drug is, each type of drug and each dosage within a company must have a unique imprint so the dosage and manufacturer can be identified in case of an emergency.

It really just makes sense, if there would be a problem with contamination or something with one of these pills, you have to have some way to tell which company made it, they can't just do a recall on ALL of the same type of medication on the market, because there are people who needs these meds and many of them are life sustaining.

The L on the L368 pill denotes it as being manufactured by LNK International and they only make over the counter items that are sold as store brands or generics and then among their line the 368 lets you know what the dosage of the pill is.

The G then stands for an entirely different manufacturer and the 17 is their number to denote the dosage.

So if you went up in the dosage, say to a prescription level of 500mgs of Naproxen it may be numbered at the next level and have the marking G18 or something similar.

I took 2 (220 mg) of this Rite Aide product and went to bed - a short time later, I became extremely dizzy, could not get up, my mouth turned to cotton, sweated profusely and then passed out on the floor when I tried to get up. When I came to, I called 911 and went to the hospital via ambulance. I could hardly speak my name. I had elevated cardiac enzymes and low potassium. I had every x-ray, cat scan and MRI for breathing, heart and neuro. I have never had an episode like this ever in my life and thought that I was dying.
I am almost 59 and in good health, I had taken 20 mg tablets (prescription of prednisone) the week prior and then got a shot of cortisone for bursitus in my shoulder 4 days prior. Other than that, I take no medication or supplements of any kind. It was rare that I took the 2 naproxen but was having leg cramps and thought that they would relax me. I will never taken them again and looking into a possible lawsuit - I was in the hospital for 3 days. My vision has been blurry and unclear since this happened.
