Urgent--low Platelet Count & Omnacortil 10 Mg Side Effects

HI..My mother has been prescribed Omnacortil-10 for low platelet count along with Veloz-10. Her platelet count is as low as 18,000 - 20,000. She takes this medicine for a week or two and discontinues it after that as she is worried about the side effects of these medicine..Please advise..Currently her platelet count is 18,000. Require urgent attention into this matter..

Omnacortil contains the active ingredient Prednisolone, which is a steroid class medication, so it can cause some side effects, but usually it is only used at a certain dosage until the person's platelet count is back up, once it is at better levels, then it is gradually discontinued.

The Veloz contains Rabeprazole, which is used to help reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach.

The issue right now is that she may not be taking the Omnacortil long enough to actually bring her platelet count back up.

Thanx for ur reply...Yes, she discontinues Omnacortil as soon as her platelet count increases to a certain amt.I want to knw if there is any permanent solution to this problem so that she can get rid of these medicines..OR let me knw till wht time she shld continue having these medicines.

my mother is had low platllet count upto 6000 doctor has given her omnacotill..it has been 2 Weeks since she is taking this medicine..now she have 45000 platlts count
wht to do to increase her platllet immidiately?

My dad has been using omnacortil 60mg. In the past his platelet count was 350000 and when omnacortil was reduced to 50mg his platelet count had been reduced to 321000. Again my dad had the same dosage and it was reduced to 272000 and then when omnacortil was reduced to 40mg the platelet count was reduced to 222000. Can u please help me with this?
