Trintellix And Can't Sleep

Updated

I have been taking 10mg of Trintellix in the mornings for just under 3 weeks and it works well for me, but I can't sleep well and the lack of sleep alone is making me consider stopping this medication. Would it be better to take it at night? Is the sleep issue something that normally goes away?

If the Trintellix is making you drowsy, it may be a good idea to try taking it at night, like you mentioned. Another issue is, were you already having difficulty sleeping before you started taking the Trintellix? If you were, it may not be the Trintellix. If you weren't, it probably is. You can also maybe lower it to 5 mgs for maybe 3 weeks, then jack it back up to 10 mgs if you feel you have to. That may help your body adjust to it. Good luck.

Most medications in this class can cause ROL, which stands for REM Onset Latency. As defined by the NIH, it takes longer for you to enter the REM phase of sleep and you spend less time in it. Thus, it takes you longer to fall asleep, and your sleep may not be as restful.

Side effects are usually transient and tend to go away, once your body gets used to a medication, but it usually takes about 4 to 6 weeks.

How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

I have been taking trintellix for about two weeks now. I take it about an hour before bedtime, and I find that I wake up feeling more rested. Maybe I’m getting more deep sleep? I also find that I am remembering more of my dreams. I usually don’t remember them at all, but now, almost every night I have one.

I have the same problem- I only get about 3-4 hours of sleep if I go to bed at 11pm. Find I am really tired around 7pm and want to nap- but that would be a big mistake. Find when I exercise in the evening it's helps me sleep better- tires thr body.

I take 5mg of Trintellix at night, and also find that I am not sleeping as well. I wake up early, like after 6 hours of sleep, when I normally sleep 7-8. Also having vivid dreams. I do notice I am less depressed, but i do feel anxious. I am taking Clonazepam at bedtime for that.

Hi Katkumo !
I have MDD I've tried many antidepressants lam very sensitive to antidepressants. Took Trintillex for 7and half weeks the longest I've been on a antidepressant. Aside from Effexor which was utter hell qqqqqqto come off. But finally did very!! Slowly. Anyhow back to Trintillex Insomnia was terrible some nights l only got 2 to 4 hours sleep maybe. I couldn't function on so little sleep, impossible to do anything l was walking around in a fog and so..... tired! So l decided to go off it. I came down from 5mg to 2.5mg every second. Obviously this was to fast and the withdrawal was absolutely unbelievable pain every where, dizzy, headaches for days. I fell on the floor lost my balance twice. I would never recommend Trintillex to anyone. I have a new prescription for Zoloft and Escitalipram l can choose either one at a very low dosage. Iam just so happy to feel normal that lam debating when and if I'll take one of the antidepressants. If l do lam going to try the antidepressant every second day. Please be very careful with going off your medication and withdrawal l never want to experience withdrawal again. And such bad insomnia that never went away. Let me known how your doing.. And best of luck. Joni
