Trilipix contains the active ingredient Fenofibric Acid, it is used to help lower cholesterol.

Does you doctor know you are going off of this medication? Have you discussed it with them?

Hairloss is not a listed side effect of this medication, are you on anything else that may be causing it?

Yes he knows. I just had my blood work done and all readings are normal. My cholesterol is on its way back up. If it were up to me I would never had used this drug. I have been off it for 2 months and I am still losing a lot of hair. Even my beard barely grows now to the point where I don't even have to shave daily. I am not taking any other medication. I am not a happy camper right now.

I also appear to be the only person on the planet that has been on this medication. Besides the study panel of course.

I too have been experiencing excessive hair loss after being on Trilipix for 3 mo. I have just this week stopped taking the drug after calling my doctor. I am dismayed to think I may be losing even more hair in the coming weeks. I also started hair loss treatments today because my stylist noticed a significant loss. So...this man is not the only one on the planet with this problem!!!!

A family member of mine also experienced hair loss after being on Trilipix for about 6 months. She too took herself off it recently.

I have been taking Trilipix for about 8 months & have noticed that my hair has been thinning out. My hair was a little thicker before I started taking this. It is not listed as a side effect but I did not have this problem until I started Trilipix! I will be telling my Dr. to take me off because of this & due to the high co-pay!

I started Trilipix and Crestor. Within the last 10 months I have lost half my hair and can't hide my scalp. I don't know which one to quit taking. It looks like they both cause hair loss. I am a female so this is devastating!

Yes, I started losing my hair after being on the Tripilix
for nearly 4 months. It is still falling out and I lost
the natural curl. Does anyone know if my hair will
grow back. I have contacted the FDA and they are
sending me a form to fill out. They want people to report
any side affects. I was informed that it has been on
the market for since 2008. I also have had horrific
heartburn. I stopped taking the drug 8 days ago.

I had significant hair loss taking Trilipix... I took the medication approximately 4 months... the generic brand I couldn't tolerate, so I took the actual Trilipix brand. I lost about half of my hair, to the point where I had to wear wigs. My doctor told me to stop taking this medication, I did, my levels are OK, and after about 8 months, my hair is just now starting to grow back, although it's very fine and thin. I wish I had never taken Trilipix

I still continue to lose hair. Have not seen my beautician
in 4 months. This along with the severe stomach distress has caused me much concern.

I have had heartburn in the past, but nothing can
compare to the episodes I have had when I took the
drug. Took every med known to man.The burning
settled down after 3 hours. I really thought that a visit
to the ER was in order. Will never, every take that
drug again. Going to contact the drug company that
makes this drug.
Take care to all....
Has anyone suffered with sever back ache when they were on the drug?
Hope everyone who is on this drug keeps posting.

I have been taking Trilipix for almost a year now. My triglicerides is normal now. But, one thing that I noticed is that I have lost a whole lot of hair. I was seriously suspecting it is because of the Trilipix. That's how I started searching online if anyone else has the same issue. Seems like what I doubted was true. I would not take off this medication becasue then my triglicerides would go up and it can cause serious issues on the long term. But, I am wonderinf if there is any alternative medicine without any side effects.

I heard a shot glass of olive oil day does wonders for
this, but check with your Dr. and tell him about your hair loss.
Exercise is supposed to lower the readings.
In my humble opinion, I think this drug is causing way to much harm to our bodies.
I am going to contact the Drug Co. and inform them of this current problem

I lost 2 members of my family from adverse reactions to drugs and one brother-in-law who suffered a stroke
just settled on a class action suit for taking a certain drug. On 60 minutes last nite, it was stated that
80% of the active ingredient in drugs prescribed to us
in the USA come from overseas, and they maybe counterfeit...real comforting news.

I have been taking Trilipix for almost a year now. My scalp started itching constantly. Soon after I noticed a significant hair loss problem. I thought it was my imagination until my Barber pointed out to me places on my head that had hair on my last visit, but was gone now. If my Doctor takes me off Trilipix will the hair grow back?

I was taking Trilipix for 18 months, my number were almost perfect, I did experience some hair loss but passed it off to getting older. However, in April I ended up in the hospital with Acute Pancreatitis. The doctors were perplexed about why it happened. I was only in the hospital for 3 days, white counts at 40K on admission and overnight down to 10K, Released on 3rd day with no after attacks, met with a specialist after some research on the pancreatitis issue directed to Trilipix he changed my diagnosis from Pacreatitis due to unknown causes to Drug Induced Pancreatitis with Trilipix as the primary reason. Currently not taking any cholestrol meds, BUT interestingly my hair has started to grow back, I just noticed that the hair on my arms is growing where it had fallen out. Could be an interesting new side to life.

Well, I contacted the FDA and they sent me a form
to fill out..sent it back. My hair is growing back but
the texture is not the same. Still experience some hair
loss when I wash my hair, not nearly the amount I lost
when taking that drug.

My heartburn has let up and my count is 196.
Fish oil is a wonder for many people, but I have
problems with it..So, I guess I will have to try and
get some info off the net and see what I can do to
reduce the count.

One thing is for sure, no more new drugs for me.
Take care to all..
Francine

I have been using Trilipix for a few years. Like some others, I thought the loss was due to age. My hair is thinner and have a bald spot on the top of my head. I have been trying to figure out what has changed in my life and the only thing I can think of is the Trilipix. I am angry with the loss of hair and pray that it will grow back. I see my endocrinologist next week and will insist that he put me on something else.

Understand your concern. My hair is growing back, but
the texture is not the same. When I shower, there is hair falls out...and when I brush my hair, I get a good amount of hair loss. Before taking the drug, there was no hair loss. My beautician would comment on how much hair I had. Have not gone to a beauty shop in nearly a year. Don't want anyone to touch my scalp let alone even thinking of taking that drug.

Hang in there, it is the drug and not our age that caused
this horrible thing to happen.
Am grateful to be alive, but really upset that drugs
are allowed to out in the mainstream with absolutely
no concern by the drug companies. I

An update to my post....
When I first started losing hair my doctors said it couldn't be Trilipix because hair loss is not a reported side effects. Well let me tell you, it IS. I have now verified that it is indeed Trilipix that caused me to lose half my hair on my head, legs, eyebrows and eyelashes. Every single time (6 attempts so far) I try to go back on Trilipix I immediately lose more hair. Stop Trilipix and the hair loss stops, take Trilipix and the hair loss starts. I have now been totally off Trilipix for 4 months and my hair is starting to ALL grow back everywhere. Trilipix needs to be looked into for causing some major hair loss!! And SOON! This devastated my life and I'd like to see this looked into before others experience what I have. Doctors need to pay attention, just because it's not listed as a side effect that does not mean that it's not. It may simply mean that it just hasn't been reported enough yet.

Took Trilipix and Zetia and ended up with severe, acute pancreatitis as a result of common bile duct blocked by gallstone. Surgeon dx. as drug induced blockage.

Yes, I did. Unfortunately I took it for years before I realized that the med may be the cause for my loss and thinning hair. I have been off it for about 5 months now. Not sure of any improvement. My hair is thinner, like yours and is thinner in front and a spot in back. I am on a new med, but not sure if it is better. Can't think of the name right now. I guess the bottom line, as far as I am concerned, if it is a choice between hair and health, I will let go of the hair. But, I am trying all med options first.

I had been on the generic Fenofibric Acid for 2 months and started having an itchy scalp and have had significant hair loss! I am a female and have always had complements on how thick and healthy my hair is all my life from hair stylists. My husband started noticing it was thinning after being on it about a month and a half. I took myself off of it a couple weeks ago. I hope it grows back! I am so upset about this! I wish I never tried it.

Add another, I have been on Trilipix for over 2 years and for the entire 2 years have wondered why my hair was falling out. I had my GP check my Thyroid level again thinking it was the cause, but now I know what it is! The girl with the beautiful thick hair, has been reduced to the girl with little. I want my hair back, I have tried every hair thickener shampoo on the market and none give me that volume back. Going to call my GP in the morning. Thank you all for the information!

I took Trilipix for about a year and had SUBSTANTIAL hair loss. My remaining hair became dry, brittle and had lost it's natural curl. I did an internet search, suspecting it had something to do w/Trilipix. Sure enough, a lot of people had experienced the same. I immediately stopped taking it and the hair loss subsided. I then started taking Visviscal and a year later, my hair has filed in, should take another 6 months to obtain the length it once had. I told the doctor who prescribed it what had occurred and the fact that I took myself off of it, he didn't seem concerned at all...Yep, time to get a new doctor...

I've been on trilipix for 2 months now and I too am suffering from hair loss. My scalp started to itch about a month after I started the medication. That stopped and my hair started falling out so much, I couldn't even touch it! After reading all these posts, I'm going to stop taking trilipix and see if it stops.

I started taking Trilipix about 3 months ago and recently started to notice a lot of hair on the bathroom floor. I decided to look up the side effects of Trilipix since that was the last medication my doctor had prescribed. I'm so glad I found this forum. I hope I stopped taking it in time, my hair is thin anyway. I talked to my doctor's secretary yesterday and told her to let my doctor know that I wasn't going to take it any more. She prescribed Lovaza today. We'll see how this goes.

For what it is worth, I submitted a comment here about a year ago for the same reason:hair loss with trilipix. My doctor gave me another one to try (can't rememeber the name) but it is also a name brand so very costly. I have been taking it for about 1 year and have not seen any change. I do not know if the drugs have the same side effect or that both drugs cause hair loss.

I have also experienced half my hair loss and it is dry an brittle with no body or natural curl. I thought I would check on line as this is has happened since I have been on Trilipix and I am shocked because it is not listed as a side affect. I have not contacted my doctor yet but will do so.

My mother doctor put her on Trilipix about three months
ago, and suddenly nearly all of her hair have fallen out, she had long think black hair and now it is at the up of her neck, very short, I also notice the hair on her eye brows. She is up in age and this is very devestating and up setting to her. I have found her crying about her hair loss. The doctor gave it to her to bring her Trigliciride level down. I have stop giving it to her, and will let the doctor know on her next visit.
