Anyone else experiencing this side effect? Not a normal topic of discussion for me with anyone but my doctor. I found this drug to be very helpful with easing pain, no sedating effect, BUT after taking this medication discovered I was unable to acheive orgasm. It took me a while to figure out it was the Tramadol causing the problem.

Mr softy Says:

I have had the same problem taking tramadol (8x50mg tablets per day).
I have quite a high sex drive, but my partner is pregnant, needless to say very tired most of the time, and i'm forced to masturbate quite frequently. This wakes her up and i can get a serious ear bashing at times.
Tramadol is great for relieving pain but can cause metaphorical headaches!!!!

Tram Says:

Trammadol increases my overall mood, increase energy and decreases pain. It does affect erections as to firmness and prolongs the time to ejeactulation. I feel ther is a serotonin effect most doctors are unaware of.

Tram Says:

My doctor prescribes tramadol for chronic fatigue and pain as well as mood enhancement. I think the serotonin effect of tramadol is responsible for the negative sexual side effects.

I just started taking tramadol for a foot injury. I have no problem with my sex drive or maintaining an erection. I just can't achieve orgasm until it wears off. It's a decent painkiller but that side effect and the dizziness are a pain. lol

It seems as though the men who had premature ejaculation problems can still get off but they just last longer, where as any guys who regularely last normal to long time find it impossible to go. Being that i last long without it i cannot orgasm.....believe me the time and effort was put in lol, no hope in hell. I find if i take 2 pills once in the day, within half hour i cant climax and that lasts basically until i sleep and wake up so i think i will just deal with my pain cause i cant live without my orgasms lol. to all those that can now last long enough to pleasure their women congrats on the wonder drug and for those of you like myself well..............nuff said lol

Your issue could be that you're trying to reach organsm and not orgasm.

Tramadol is a horrible drug, it nearly drove me crazy. I had terrible side effects, electric shock type of pains in my muscles, twitchiness, anxiety, horny as hell and not being able to have an orgasm. They didn't ease the pain they'd been prescibed for they just made me stoned and anxious. The withdrawal took 7 -10 days, the first 4 were horrific, no sleep, no appetite, sweating so much my sheets were soaked, twitching pains in my muscles and every inch of my skin was madly sensitive. The drugs don't work!

the tramadol guru Says:

Well i have been taking tramadol for about 15 years and i would say that it is a pain when it comes to making love with my partners. For me it is like this i take 1 for my pain if i expect to be getting busy in the next eight hours or so. Then i have some problems climaxing but the funny part is it makes me last a long time and that can be a good thing if i can actually get to the climax before i go limp it almost seems like i lose feeling in my penis. I will just tell the girl that it may not work for me or i fake the orgasam. I also have a woman that i know that has told me that her trammys that she is prescribed to makes her sex life better because she wants to climax and that makes her go longer and harder. But for me it is deffiantly that trammies 1000% positive i dont like it so thats what i have to say i am glad that i am not the only one that has had this problem with this medication. It has actually embarassed me a few times but if you are with a commited partner this should not be a problem. Anyways i look forward to hearing what others have to say.

Have been taking tramadol for 2 years for pain associated with trapped nerve in upper spine . Severe loss of ability to orgasm as soon. Stopped taking as I found other worrying side effects and ability to obtain orgasm returned within 4 days . have decided to put up with pain now and not return to tramadol.

yes it is, I just have to stay off it 24 hours prior and there is no problem. But it works very well for what it was intended so this little side effect is worth it. Just head for the medicine cabinet after..

Sam Says:

In general, I've found tramadol to lessen the pleasure of sex and to reduce the intensity of orgasm. I can have sex on it but the sex just isn't quite as rewarding.

However, I greatly appreciate the long-lasting extra energy that tramadol gives me, and the lift in mood, and the reduction of life's pains.

If you reduce the dose or avoid tramadol on a day when you plan to have sex, there's little or no problem.

Tramadol is like any other tool---it can be used to one's benefit, or misused with bad effects. People who cannot control their intake should not use it. You've got to keep the cost/benefit ratio in your favor.
