Tramadol (u) Tab 100mg Er

I have used tramodol 100mg er tablets for 6 months for aid in limting pain in my right hip after a fall. I was taking 2 in the AM and 1 in the evening. All went good until I recently started being unable to sleep all night. The doctor did not want to raise my dose and prescribed hydocodone/ace 5-500 and I still cannot sleep after a few hours. Should the dose of 2 tramodol be administered at night and the dose of 1 be used in AM. I do NOT have pain during the day other than very minor.

From what I could gather, the plasma half-life of tramadol following a single or multiple dosing is 6 to 7 hours. That means it has the ability to provide more consistent pain relief over that time span, before it starts leaving your system.

I would certainly consider doing as you suggested, taking the 2 pills at night, if you think it might help you get a good nights rest. Since your pain levels are much lower during the day, 1 pill should suffice (in my opinion). But I suppose the only real way to know for sure is to try it. I don't think there's a specific time of day that one has to take Tramadol, so you can be pretty flexible with the administration of it.
