Touching Suboxone

Hello. I'm trying to prove a point and figure this situation out so I need as many suggestions and help that I can possibly get with this question. If you handle quite a few Suboxone wrappers and had even handled Suboxone itself but have never taken Suboxone, is there any way that could get into your system without taking it? Thank you so much this means a lot to me. It really does. And yes I have tried to research this question and I get so many different results so I thought I would come to this wonderful MedChat and try to get a lot more information. Just trying to prove a point.

I'm so desperate to figure this out. So please help me.

Hi Annie,

I'm not an expert in the forensics of touching a medication like Suboxone. However, I am under the impression that Suboxone tablets would certainly not get absorbed into your system unless they were ingested. When it comes to Suboxone 'film strips' I can only suspect that it may be possible if one's fingers were wet, but can't say for 100% certain.

My hunch is that if someone said they didn't take any Suboxone tablets but has it in their system, then the odds of them lying are high.

On the contrary, I have heard about cases with certain types of medication (not pill form) that could be absorbed through the skin.

No Annie it won't unless you are handling 100's of doses a day without gloves and your hands were moist.

My advice to you is, if you are concerned about it, then see a doctor or pharmacist. Good luck.

I think it would get into your system in very small quantities as it is absorbed through membranes in the mouth when taken under the tongue so some would get through the skin I would expect. Have you only touched it with hands because hand skin is usually thick?

Wow I am surprised by nasty responses on here. I come here because for the most part people are nice and really try hard to answer questions to help each other. I am in agreement with David. I was a pharmacist before I became disabled, and most pill versions of medication do not go through the skin like that. But it had happened with certain meds. I have just never really heard of this being a problem with suboxone. This could happen in the alternate forms of suboxone like the film. It is made to absorb through mucous membranes, but still not the skin on the hands. So if suboxone comes up in someone's system it is because they took it. I know I am pretty much repeating what others have said but I wanted to let you know your questions are always welcome and always worthy of a decent kind answer. Wow!!

Why are some people being so rude to this Annie? I just don't get it. She has a question that's all plain and simple just a question if you don't know anything about it then I would suggest to move on. No need for rudeness. The way I read her question is she is merely asking a question. Not all but it appears it's strictly men being smart asses. Annie if I knew I would totally help you out. But my guess would be if you have touched quite a few and also the strips yes it could get into your system I would think somehow without putting it in your mouth. Hopefully I've helped a little. I have been on suboxone for 6 yrs now I can't believe but the only way for that to happen is a strip of sub. not the pills could possibly get dissolved by water or any kind of liquid and get attached to something you touched or even ingested I could see that as a possibility. They do make the transdermal soboxone absorbed through the skin when sticking a patch of sub. to your upper arm or someplace with fatty tissue like your tummy. Hope you find some answers.

No, suboxone is only absorbed through mucous membranes, so simply touching a dry sublingual tablet or strip would do nothing. Also, none of the drug rubs off or remains in the packaging.

Hello everyone. I was strictly asking this question because a friend of mine handles a lot of the Suboxone foils and the little orange strips. And she had taken a drug panel and it came up with very very very low traces of the drug that's in Suboxone BUP... She was just so confused and I was trying to help her. So now I don't know what to think, did she take it or is it possible? And I'm not trying to poison anyone. LOL, I was just strictly curious and I care about my friend that's all. I mean in theory it's possible as it's a water soluble tablet for sub lingual use. But I would imagine very very small amounts would actually, if any, get through to your blood system

Hi I’m just speaking from experience I used to do the same things, I’ve been clean for quite sometime now but that doesn’t matter. If you love this person you got to understand that addiction is a disease and can be treated but the addict has got to want to get clean. The only thing else I can say about this is that it was and still is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do and continue to do. May god bless everyone involved.

Hi, I'm sure you're right. Deep down that's exactly what I was thinking. But she's my friend and I guess I'll have her back. But if I truly find out she did and she lied to me we're going to have a big problem. Maybe I'm just naive or maybe just a true friend or just plain stupid but I love and care about her. If it proves out that she did I'll just be devastated. She will have to make some choices like getting help because I don't have time for lying and bulls*** in my life.
