That doesn’t sound like a high dose. I am a 100 lb female and that’s usually what they give me in the ER, though I usually end up needing another dose of morphine before the end.

Does your doctor have you on a migraine preventative medication?

Prevention generally works better than trying to get rid of one, once it starts, when it comes to migraines.

The NIH has some great information available for migraine sufferers.

As the other poster said, no, that's not really a high dosage, it's about the usual for what ERs use, they tend to err on the low side, especially when providing opiates, they'd rather give the minimum required for pain relief than risk overdosing someone. Unfortunately, they also sometimes have addicts come in, claiming to suffer from any given malady, in an attempt to get a fix, thus they have to be very cautious.

How are you feeling? Has there been any improvement?
