I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE IS TAKING TOPROL XL AFTER STENT SURGERY? I AM NOW TAKING 2 DIOVAN 160/12.5 MG DAILY. I WOULD LIKE TO REDUCE THE COST AND TOPROL XL SEEMS TO BE LESS EXPENSIVE. ## I had open heart last month and was placed on toprol XL 100mg. It has done a great job keeping my heart rate &b/p down ## Have you discussed it with your doctor? They are the only person who can help you decide what would be best for you to take, given your stent surgery. Are you on any other medications? I've been getting the brand name AstraZeneca for years. Today pharmacist told me they don't make it anymore. I think he is mistaken. He still charged me more for it, but it was a different brand than AstraZeneca. Anyone have info? So I have just recently moved from the USA to Italy and I take Toprol XL 25 mg. It works great at lowering my heart rate. However I have gone from pharmacy to pharmacy and have been unable to locate it. All they have here is something called (Metropolol Hexal) and it doesn't work hardly at all, my HR is constantly in the 90-100's and I am taking the same dose. Is there any other medication I can take so this doesn't happen? Or are there certain pharmacies in Italy that DO carry Toprol XL? Thanks.

I have been taking Toprol XL for 4 years. Can I replace it with Diovan? ## I am 53 and take 100mg Toprol Xl each morning. I exercise at least 40 minutes 5 days per week (cardio) at the lunch hour. I am the CEO of our company and do experience stress on a regular basis. I am 6'4 tall and 225 pounds. I have been taking toprol for a few years now and recently was increased to 100 mg because my BP was up. I have felt dizzy and light headed on a regular basis and I'm not sure if it's the toprol xl or something else. I take no other medication and I do not smoke or drink. Are there other options to toprol xl, and if so, what are they? I've been taking Toprol XL 50 MG for many years. My recent presciption came with pills that look a little different. My previous pills have always had small A mo lettering , the new ones have same lettering but much larger letters. Any difference between the two? ## Are you sure it's still the A MO marking? Because there is another one made by the same company that uses a marking of A MS and it's larger, because it's a 100mg tablet. If that's the one you received, then they gave you the wrong dosage. Does Toprol XL 50 MG produce insomnia for anyone? I am taking it at night and HCT(Diovan) 160/12.5MG in the morning. Could taking both be the reason? ## I would like to say that my doctor put me on toprol xl because I just found out this year I have a generic heart problem. My dad found out he has it and his mom does to. I have to say this medicene helps me because I kept blacking out and found out why. The doctorsaid that it was my built in pace maker he said that if he did surgery to give me another pace maker it would only make me worse. Would like to know the manufacturer's name and place of origin. In other words, is it manufactured in the U.S. ## Since it is a generic, there are several manufacturers, so I can't answer your question without more information. Does the bottle list a manufacturer? Or, are there any markings on the tablets in question? If you can post back with this information, then I can discover who the manufacturer is and where they are located.

Two questions...Has anyone taking Toprol XL experienced extreme bouts of lightheadedness, but not to the point of dizziness? Has anyone taken Toprol XL and estrogen replacement? Thanks for your time and input. ## My husband (Larry) after having open heart surgery was prescription Topazole for an enlarged thyroid gland . Is this a serious disease as suggested and why not synthroid pills. ## The difference in what is prescribed, depends on what type of thyroid issue he has, what is causing it to be enlarged. A person can have either and overactive or an underactive thyroid. Since Tapazole is an antithyroid medications, I have to assume then, that his is over active. I'm going on a long plane trip to Italy. Taking Lisinopril (10 mg) a.m + Toprol xl (25 mg) am and p.m. My Dr. has given me Ativan (1 mg) for anxiety to take 1 hr. before the flight. I'm very worried about mixing these 3 all at one time. Also concerned about Ativan not lasting through the 16 hrs of my trip. Any suggestions? It's my first time taking Ativan. The closer the trip gets the more anxious I am. What about splitting up the dose of Ativan in half in case 1 mg doesn't last 16 hours? I'm also, wondering about getting on Italy's time zone schedule for my blood pressure meds since they are 9 hours ahead of us in AZ. Can I skip a day or take my dose a few hours early to get on the same schedule as AZ? Any thoughts are appreciated. P.S. I also have Valium that I...

I am preparing to go on a cruise. Has anyone taken Toprol XL with Dramamine or other anti-dizziness drugs...OTC or otherwise? There are numerous drugs and foods that seem to interact adversely with Toprol XL. Thanks for your reply. ## I've been on Toprol XL 50mg for several years. I have taken airline flights and used both dramamine and another brand with no side effects and they did the job. I didn't get nauseated or sick. Kathy ## Kathy: You were correct. 02/08/2006 Is there such a thing as becoming resistant to Toprol XL 50 mg? I've been on this drug for several years. It seems like it's not as good as it used to be for me. I have no med. insurance and no income. I get the meds free from the manufacturer. But lately I don't feel so good in the middle of my chest and the palpitations are getting worse and more frequent. It feels like there is something too heavy (in my chest) for my body to hold in place. Also- could the manf. have changed the ingredients enough to cause my body to react differently? Is there some way to have one of the pills tested to verify the ingredients are correct and in the right amounts? This is starting to become debilitating for me and it scares me!
