I take my Tikosyn at 5:30am and 5:30pm. I know it’s important not to miss a dose and adhere to a schedule. Do I alter the times at all when the clocks fall back during daylight savings? ## For daylight saving do I take my tikosyn an hour earlier ## Unless your doctor, or pharmacist instructs otherwise, you can adjust your dosing times accordingly. Generally a change of such a small window is fine. The FDA warns that Tikosyn may cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, chest pain, back pain, and insomnia. Ref: Tikosyn Information Are you on any other medications? ## I take dofetelide for afib 5:00am a s 5:00pm. Daylight savings time just started i took one 5:00 pm so how so i take 5:00 am dose now?? What's your experience with tikosyn? ## I don't have any personal experience with this medication, but thought it would be helpful to others who are interested in it to post some more details about Tikosyn. Tikosyn (Dofetilide) is used to treat irregular heartbeats. It improves your heart rhythm by relaxing an overactive heart. Information regarding other uses, side effects, interactions, etc, can be viewed in the two links below: I hope this helps! ## I am scheduling a hospitalization for this medication (Tikosyn). Would love to hear from anyone who has used this; what has been your experience? ## I studied Tikosyn and thought it would be the best choice for me, because it does not have the side effect of slowing the heart down or lowering blood pressure like so many anti-ahrry...

Which cough syrups can you safely take with Tikosyn? ## Did you have a few specific products in mind? It would help to know for the sake of being able to cross check ingredients. For example, Nyquil contains Acetaminophen, Chlorpheniramine, and Dextromethorphan - none of those ingredients appear to interact with Tikosyn [1]. Please share the name of the cough syrup that you prefer to take.

i need an antibiotic for a UTI and i use Tikosyn..what antibotic is safe to use with tikosyn? ## Hello, Susan! How are you? Unfortunately, there are far too many antibiotics on the market for me to be able to check them all for interactions with the Tikosyn. Have you consulted your doctor? They should be able to prescribe one that you can safely take, your pharmacy will also double check for you, when you have it filled. Alternatively, if your doctor prescribes one, you can feel free to post back here and I'll gladly check for you. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Do not take any super antibiotics such as Bactrim or Ciparo Dr gave me Macrobid Otherwise it will affect your QT ## I have been prescribed Levofloxin for sinus infection . Is this safe to take with Tikosyn ? ## I...

What's an effective combination as SSRIs are contra-indicated? Bupropion just isn't efficacious. Anyone have any experience with other drugs and what are they? ## Hello, Sdarcy! How are you? I've been searching, but so far, everything I've found and checked is contraindicated with the Tikosyn. Did your doctor suggest anything else you can try? I even researched some of the antipsychotics. Tikosyn is listed by the FDA as being used to treat irregular heartbeat and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and cough. Does anyone else know of anything? ## Paxil is safe to use with Tikosyn. I am on low does for anxiety that caused PACs. On longer have premature beats.

My usual dose of tikosyn is 3 0.125 capsules every 12 hours. By mistake I took 5 capsules instead of three. What should I do? ## @cnf, If this had happened to me I probably would've called my doctor and the American Association of Poison Control Centers, who can be reached 24/7 at: 1 (800) 222-1222. This extra step may not be necessary depending on your body's response/tolerance to the drug, but I'd prefer to be on the safe side when it comes to an overdose on any prescription drug, especially an anti-arrhythmic agent like this that works directly on the heart. I hope everything turned out to be fine since you last posted here.

If I miss one scheduled dose, which is every 12hours, by 3 or 4 hours, take a dose.. Then slowly get back to schedule. Is that ok, or should I skip it altogether? ## Hello, John! How are you? Generally, you should take the missed dose, as soon as you remember and only skip it, if it's close to the time for your next dose. Otherwise, you take it and then get yourself back on schedule, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. However, with such a medication, it would be best to take all doses on time. Do you have a smart phone? If so, there are many free reminder apps that you can download that will remind you when it's time to take your medication. I use one on my iPhone all the time. I went to pick up my 2nd order of the med. They couldn't give full refill only 10 pills, it's on order. Do all druggist have a problem with getting it supplied to them ? This is thru a hospital prarmacy. Seems odd to me. It's the only supplier in my city. It's doing the job for stopping my AFIB with no apperant side effects ## Hello, Jim! How are you? There is nothing listed about there being a shortage, so it could be that the hospital just ran short. Some have strict protocols on when they can re-order a new supply. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea. headache, chest pain, dizziness and thirst. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can I take phentermine while also taking Tikosyn at the same time? Are there side effects in doing this? ## Hello, Saundra! How are you? No, if you have a heart problem, such as an arrhythmia, it most likely isn't safe for you to take Phentermine, because it's a stimulant that can affect heart rate and blood pressure. It's proven to be very dangerous for some people with undiscovered cardiovascular issues. Did your doctor prescribe it?

What atiovbiotics are safe to use with Tikyson? ## Hi Sue, From what I could gather, there are certain macrolide antibiotics and certain quinolone antibiotics that interact with Tikosyn (Dofetilide); however the prescribing label for this medication does not mention which antibiotics fall into these two categories and which one's don't. In this case, if you are looking into using a specific antibiotic, your doctor should know based on your medical records that certain one's may interact with your current medication(s). I would however suggest reminding him/her of this possible interaction just to play it safe when you are being prescribed something. I hope this advice helps!
