There isn't necessarily any time of year for stomach viruses, there are several that one could catch and they can occur any time of year. I got a very nasty one back in October and was miserable. The best preventative is washing your hands regularly to help prevent transmission to yourself and others. As to the expired medication, it would be best to dispose of it and obtain a new supply, if you need it.
