These Blood Thinners Are Deadly

Updated

Once you start taking this you will be on it until blood walls thin, then you will be begin to bleed inside, then they will make you stop taking it, and you will have a stoke or heart attack, there are many other ways to thin your blood. These blood thinner drugs are poison. They did this to my Mother and Father, and my sister as well. Please save your life and find an alternative. A natural coarse is always the best coarse of action.

You didn't indicate where you got your medical degree when you posted this opinion. I have confidence in our medical system, including the prescription blood thinners that doctors order for their patients. Before I went on Eliquis I did all of the usual checking and was satisfied that taking a blood thinner was more satisfactory than having a stroke. I know there are people who always look under their bed at night for the boogie man, but is it really necessary to scare other readers because you think you know more than the FDA and the AMA?

Taking a neutral perspective here, I do agree that there are other natural blood thinning alternatives that may be safer; such as a balanced diet of foods high in salicylates. Salicylates possess anti-inflammatory properties and can make your blood less prone to clotting. Some of these foods include: ginger, curry powder, cayenne, paprika, thyme, cinnamon, dill, oregano, turmeric, licorice, peppermint, raisins, prunes, cherries, cranberries, oranges, & blueberries - just to name a few). Fish also has blood thinning properties due to its omega 3 content. Taking this into consideration, a healthy diet can go a long way towards not necessarily having to rely on medication that is known to cause unusual and potentially life threatening side effects.

On the other hand, I believe the original poster's statement that such side effects "will" happen is false and should be revised, because it is only based on their own unique personal experience... but there are probably tens of thousands of patients taking these blood thinners who are alive and doing well. Each person responds differently to each medication (whereas one can't predict how it may affect another individual with different body chemistry and so forth). What happened to the original poster's family is truly unfortunate and I send my condolences. That sounds like a rare situation. I'd be curious to know if they had anything else in common that might've attributed to how well the medication worked...

At any rate, I hope this helps add a little peace of mind to the topic.

Forgot to add that I am a stained glass artist and benefit from small cuts while doing my art. I have noticed no difference in the amount of blood that I lose before the bleeding stops. Granted these are more like severe nicks than actual cuts, and most are completely healed within three days. Eliquis has caused no change in the amount of blood I lose after I am cut.

RE:medical degrees. I had CABG surgery this summer. After the surgery, I was put on Xarelto 20mg. The script was written by a nurse practitioner at the hospital. Now, five months later the script is running out and I've asked my cardiothoracic surgeon and my internist about the need to continue Xarelto and they don't know for sure why I was put on Xarelto or who the NP was. They checked the notes from my cardiologist and found no mention of Xarelto in his records. I've tried contacting the cardiologists office and haven't been able to get through. The MD's are referring me back to each other and currently no one with medical training is taking responsibility for prescribing or monitoring this prescription medication. So, having a medical degree is no guarantee of good medical care. In the end, you must be your own healthcare advocate.

I am going into my third week of standard dosing Xarelto 15mg BID with next week 20 mg once daily for a DVT in my calf. With each successive pill, I get sicker and longer headaches, malaise, fatigue, bloating, neck aches, and new symptoms. I am trying to tough it out, but I now am having difficulty sleeping at night. I dread taking the pill, because I know within the hour I will be sick for most of the next 12 hours. Do I tough it out and hope next week will be better? I called my doctor once about the headache and she said it was a positional headache, but I suspect it is from the xarelto. I seldom get headaches. I'm scared of switching meds or stopping blood thinners..

First off, I am sincerely sorry for the loss of your Mother, Father and sister. I realize that the nature of your post is meant with the intention of saving someone from harm or heartbreak, however there are times when blood thinners are necessary and natural solutions will not provide a therapeutic solution. There are people who have medical disorders (such as Factor V and other blood disorders) who are prone to clotting and developing DVT's and PE's that need to be blood thinners. Everyone's situation is different, with multiple factors that can effect outcomes. Not everyone on blood thinners will experience the same outcome that your loved ones did.
