I have just been prescribed this medication for nerve issues in my face. I really don't know if I want to take this after reading all of the bad side effects. I'm using Tegretol combined with Topiramate, and further more I have so more proplems as are described on leaflefs! One of them and the most important as combination of Carbamazepin (Tegretol) with Topiramate (Topamax), couse might have a lot side effect, couse one of the most important I think, is PLASMA LOW CONCENTRATION, and more efects! In each leaflets the describtions are, but do not taken into cosiderations by Albanian's doctors. Or better show negligence about that! Anyhow, or in any case repercussion of all that, we're obliged to carry on back, couse nothing is doing better! Please recommend me what can I do the better! Thank you!

Dear Sir, I am ananth . I am under anti depresent since 1 992 like Clofranil . Subsequently in 2004 one day i taken over dose Tini i.e Tinidozole for my GITI which by next morning just numbness in my face . for which i was presicrbed tegretol and later to oxetol 300 . since 2005 i am under oxetol 300 per day in night . i am sufferring regularly from various side effects like GITI , Upperespiratory Track infection , improper Bowl movement fatigue , dizzizness etc.. i am otherwise had never any epilepsy attck till date. Doctor advised me to stop it on tappering basis . But some how i am unable to do so as i feel restless when i stop it next day. and uncomforatble in stomach . Offcourse i know its due to addiction. But i am scared please advise further.

A close relative has been prescribed to use this drug. can I know how soon it can take to stop his absence seizures that he experiences on a daily basis?. He has previously used tegretol and lamictal but the seizures still occur. ## I'm sorry, but there's really no way for anyone to say. If it works for him, it may take several weeks to see the full effect and for it to completely control the seizures. But there is also a chance that it may not work, just like the others. I first took seizures just 5 weeks ago after having a small stroke. Doctor put me on Tegretol and I was hopeful that would be the end of the seizures. Now after just 5 weeks I have taken another seizure. I did have 2 bottles of beer and 2 tins of cider over 8 hours. Does anyone think this caused the seizure. ## Alchol, caffeine, TV, loud noises/music, stress, blinking lights, the spin of a roulette wheel,mahjong tile shuffling, even very hot baths - almost anything that negatively stimulates a brain prone to seizures can bring on a seizure. I am 70 and have been taking Eptoin 100mg and Tegretol 100mg ai bed time since 1976. Recentlly I checked my blood for lever enzymes. SGOT 197 SGPT 213 GGTP(kinetic) 91 Alpkaline Phosphate 130 Should I reduce or stop these medication. ## I am in India. I was asked to take these 2 after I suffered from fits immediately after my heart surgery in 1975. I have no fits for the last 16 years. Some suggested that I may not need these now as I have over come the fits. Recently I had echogram done for the heart along with specific blood test when the excess lever enzmes were deteted.

My grandmother was on a medicine in oklahoma for epilepsy. We cant get the record of any of her meds in iowa. She says the generic name started with Ce and the Brand name Started with T. ## Hmmm the closest one I could think of would be Tegretol - starts with a T ... generic name for it is Carbamazepine. Could not find any generic names starting with Ce, only Ca. I hope this helps. Any other clues you could post? The appearance of the pills, any letters/numbers on them?
