I have taxim-o 200. Can i give it to my child and how much of dosage of it?

Hi shree,

Taxim-O contains the active ingredient Cefixime, this is an antibiotic used to treat infections; (including gonorrhea and tonsillitis).

The dosage and Administration guidelines for this medication state the following:

For Children: The recommended dose is 8mg/kg/day of the suspension. This may be administered as a single daily dose or may be given in two divided doses, as 4mg/kg every 12 hours.

My 7 yr old son got acute stomach pain along with some rashes on legs & we have him admitted him to a hospital. He was diagnosed with mysenteric lymphadenitis (as per Ultrasound report) & first day evening he was given Taxim 500mg IV TDS injection. . They gave him Avil 1 ml IV TDS injection & the rashes disappeared within 4 hours. Next day (2nd day) we saw these rashes all over his body again including face. Doctor had no clue why they reappeared & they didnt go after Avil injection this time. He was also given half tablet of Allegra 180 mg & 1 tab of Xyzal for skin rashes but it didnt go. Its been 2 days now & the stomach pain is gone but rashes are left behind. We are worried on why the rashes reappeared with higher area covered next day & not going with Allegra. Now doctor has advised to take 1 tab Taxim-O 200 mg oral in the morning and 1 in the night along with half tab of Allegra 120mg only at night. Do you think that any of these medicines have caused this allergy to him? They also gave Rantac 150 today morning & some deworming tablets.

Please suggest. We are much worried.

my doctor has given me taxim O 200 for 7 days ( 2 tabs every day) for severe uti infection.
Can you pls advise if its ok to take this because i am breast feeding my baby. My baby is 15 months.

My son is 3 years and he is on Taxim-0 5ml but he keeps passing out. Could this be a cause of taxim-0? He is on it because he was diagnosed with typhoid. Been to the hospital. All evaluations were done and cleared but he continues to experience the passing outs which look like seizures. Please advise.
