Tapentadol Dose Compared To Suboxone

I am coming off of 4 years of suboxone and have not been sucessful in stopping...so im hearing it is easier to withdraw from pain pills...experienced that myself years back..i would like to know the comparable dose of 2mg suboxone to a 100mg Tapentadol...thanks

Hi Michele,

Just to clarify, are you hoping to use the Tapentadol to help with withdrawal from Suboxone? Or are you wanting to switch medications? Either way, this could have negative effects since using Suboxone (buprenorphine) together with tapentadol may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. I wouldn't recommend starting the Tapentadol with the Suboxone still in your system.

In regards to detoxing from the Suboxone, usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to taper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them.

In addition to that, I'd also suggest making yourself a tapering schedule on a calendar to track your progress and keep you on the right path to complete your goal within a specific time frame. Without a way to track your progress, tapering can sometimes be much more difficult than it needs to be.

Also, eating plenty of fruits and vegetables while staying hydrated throughout the day will significantly aid your body in detoxing quicker. Besides getting plenty of rest each night I'd also recommend getting at least an hour each day of exercise in to help sweat out any toxins and get your lymphatic system flowing (which will significantly aid in detoxification as well). If you are too sick to go out, just try doing some simple at home workouts or stretching! I really do believe that your body's ability to heal is greater than anyone (even yourself) has possibly permitted you to believe, so hang in there! Once this is over, just imagine how great you will feel! :)

I'm getting of Tapentadol 400 mg three times a day and it has been replaced by buprenorpine 0.4mg twice a day. I'm really really suffering. Can I take 200mg Tapentadol now at night after four hours of taking buprenorpine to help with the pain?

Hi just tried to jump off 4mg of suboxone after 15 years and by the third week I could no longer stand it ( felt like a failure ) -but tapering is definitely the way to go - my point though is that I have,heard that magnesium can assist with restless legs and cramping - my partner said that along with the usual instructions from his Dr the magnesium definitely assisted to help reduce those 'bends' - best of luck to you all.
